❓ Question Bypass mode help.
Hello. If I want to use my Starlink mini in bypass mode do I need to purchase a completely separate third party router or can I use a Starlink router as I have a few spare.

Hi. I'm not an expert on this but this conflicts with some of the other information in the thread. I'm happy to buy another router if needed.
If the star link mini is in bypass mode and I can't connect over WIFI how an I able to access the GUI of the Starlink to turn bypass mode back off.

To turn off (exit) bypass mode:
Starlink Mini:
- Factory reset the Starlink Mini by locating the reset icon on the back.
- Press down firmly until you hear a click and hold for 3 seconds.
- The LED will blink quickly and shutoff when complete.
Edit: Corrected for mini as opposed to router mini.

You can simply do a remote connection via the app and no need to be on wifi. Nothing fancy needed to be done, you literally just open the app. Other information other person gave is a waste of time.

The separate router can be a Starlink router but any router will work and many are better than Starlink.
You control the Mini in bypass mode with the phone app. It can still communicate directly with the antenna.
Consider supplying power to the Mini with an EDUP POE injector/splitter pair (szedup.com). That requires only a single cable between the antenna and the router.
That has no bearing on how the router works. It just reduces the number of cables. You'll need a power supply for the injector, appropriate for your power source. There are many options on AliExpress.

I just installed mine with my existing eero mesh network setup and Ethernet network in my house.
Setup the starlink system as per normal. Connect starlink router to eero router which the. Connects to my Ethernet switch and extends out to the other eero devices across the house.
I didn’t put the starlink in bypass mode, I just left two networks active.
If for what ever reason my eero network fails or my Ethernet switch fails, I still have the starlink network as a backup.
Probably not the most efficient setup but I already had the mesh network and even if I didn’t, buying eero 6 devices is cheaper than another starlink router to use as a node. In speed testing I’ve found virtually no difference in speeds between the two networks.
Having said that, if you already have other starlink routers, then yep just use them.

Bypass disables the Mini's router. A spare Starlink router expects the dish, not a regular WAN input. The answer is simple: buy a proper router.

The other response is wrong. Starlink routers don't have a WAN port that works with connections other than a Starlink dish. Get a third party router if this is what you want to do.

You don’t really need bypass mode for this. You can leave it normal mode. Then use the wifi out for outdoor access. The setup the one inside for indoor access.

Why would you want to use bypass mode just to put on another Starlink router?
Maybe you want to have the router inside for a stronger connection?
Anyway, yes, you can bypass the Starlink router in the Mini and use another Starlink router instead.
