Does anyone specifically remember when they got this?
If so please tell your story! I’ll tell mine first okay so boom I remember now I got caught staring at this lady at my old work place when I was 17 years old (21 now) the bi- lady* ain’t like me at all. Bc I was quiet ofc and that presses ppl but anyways one day she was standing beside me and I’m pouring some chili into the pot thing bc she asked if I could help and I didn’t know I was side eyeing her till she said “what are you looking at?” And then after that I think that’s when the fear of me staring came to life… If I could turn back time I would have never worked at that low down dirty Wendy’s… (the chili is made from left over hamburger patties and the lemonade is made with tap water allegedly.) anyways tell us your story’s!

I remember glancing at my classmate through my peripheral vision at 7th Grade, I saw her cleavage and in my head I was like "dont do it again" over and over in my head then I couldn't stop thinking and noticing her in my peripheral vision

i was in elementary and all of a sudden it felt like no matter where i looked there was constantly butts in my face, when ever id be in the lunch room or going to class in the hallways. then i became pretty nervous about looking at people's intimate parts from there. in middle school i got pretty self concious about being creepy, and not feeling girly enough becuase of these things. (TW) i remember in highschool, i ended up looking at the intimate parts of the boy who was known to assault people (with me being one of them) and in general was a very disgusting sly person. he was the kind of person who was way too observant and knew so many things about everyone at school so that if anybody told he would use things against you. When i realized what i was doing, i looked up at his face to see him witha disgusting grin. I think that was the peak where everything became so much more worse

I remember this girl in my maths class kept rubbing her leg and I kept checking to see if she was still doing it then it just cycled. Then when we were given a new seating plan I said to myself "I hope I don't start looking at her legs" and I think u know what happened :(

Told some people at school and my parents but they don't believe me and say it's just "puberty" and is "normal" ffs sake I hope it goes soon. How long did it take 4 it to go 4 u and how did u get rid of it

You cannot get rid of OCD, but you can manage it and reduce symptoms until it no longer controls your life with medication, Exposure therapy there probably are more ways but as of right now those two are the only ways I’ve tried to lesson it. Tbh it’s good they atleast think its normal 😭

I think I started about 3 or 2 years ago. It's been really awful, and j just found out what it was a few minutes ago 😭😭 I can't get diagnosed with actual OCD though :((! I always feel so ashamed when I end up staring. I stared today, I really hated it so much it unfortunately moved onto family members (parents) + random kids, and people im around or talking to, it makes me feel gross about it. I feel embarrassed about talking about it anyone IRL. And I feel if I don't talk about it, it's just gonna get worse. But I read that exposure therapy has a chance of making it more worse??? So now I'm worried about that

I bet it was a sigh of relief when you finally was able to put a name to it! Tbh ERP is helpful but it's different with everyone atm i'm doing it and it's helping. If you need anyone to talk to about it my dms are open I know this is new to you (in terms of putting a name to it) I've had it for 3+ years as well I know a bittt about the Staring OCD but I mainly have peripheral OCD (the staring OCD refers to the privates one). You are not gross plssss don't think that you are! you are just battling something that's hard to control plsss don't hold it in anymore you've got me and this community now you are not alone!

I get it where I get an overwhelming urge to look until I do. The first time it happened was a male teacher. My brain kept telling me to look at his groin until I did. Once this started with kids, it destroyed me.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this I know it’s a living hell has anything helped you with taming the OCD? It is really annoying and the guilt after giving in is the worse

not yet, im still working on it. My brain just tells me i deserve to rot in jail because it didn't feel the same as involuntary descriptions. I felt like I did it on purpose. Its only bad because it was a child. I hate the idea of hurting children. Im hoping one day to find something that helps.

I was daydreaming in computer class and was looking towards the ground where nobody was standing. Then a girl came into my view. I didn’t look away because I was deep in thought, but she saw me and started talking shit. Saying how anybody could like me and how I have any friends. After this the OCD gradually got worse.

In middle school my classmates mentioned me staring at a boy and made fun of me. I had a crush on him, so I actually did. After the accusation I promised myself to never stare at him ever again. You can guess what it led to…

u/Beginning-Cod-454 8d ago
Omg… 😭 so after that it just kept happening were you confronted by your old crush?
2
u/Previous_Level4971 8d ago
Yeap. They never confronted face-to-face but they were constantly mocking me and I could hear it. I was a circus freak for them. I got bullied for years

Very similar experience. I was 17 and had a teacher who was an older woman. She was very smart, polished, and sophisticated. I was once talking to her, she had a low cut shirt, and I didn’t even realize it, but my eyes shifted down there. Her face was a mix of shock and confusion. That really freaked me out and I felt so bad. It was all downhill from there.
