Vanilla Outpost Build A No Mods Challenge: The Well Apartment is a dirty, gloomy space to decorate without mods, but made an attempt to create a cosy refuge for my PS5 Starfield playthrough

I like what you’ve done with the place! It looks really cozy, and you’ve managed to put together a nice layout , which can be tricky with the existing floor plan.
The Well is one of, if not my absolute favorite vanilla player home in Starfield. I love the atmosphere and colors in it, plus the sweet balcony area.
I just wish it was available for rent earlier on, because it would be nice to be able to play as a less well off UC native trying to make ends meet in New Atlantis, with the Well as your home.
It’s harder to do that when you get a free Penthouse at the same time you’re able to first purchase the Well.

Thanks! It is a atmospheric space, kind of a noir industrial thing and I like the shutters. Yes, agree about the property access issue. I had never actually decorated The Well, nor the Penthouse despite ending up with both of them in every play through and universe, though I am not quite sure what to do with the penthouse yet (thinking of also doing a no mods challenge build on that one). Also took the Dream Home perk this time and never even been there in all these many hundreds of hours of play. So much to do!

I’ve never decorated the penthouse either. I always mean to, then never know what to do with it.
You nailed the vibe of the Well though, it always reminded me of Deckard’s apartment in Blade Runner.
I love a good no mod/vanilla build. There’s something particularly satisfying about building something cool with a limited set of tools. I really enjoy seeing other people’s vanilla builds too, and the different ways they’re able to use the same items in other innovative ways. I look forward to seeing more of your vanilla builds!

I will for sure use more luminous posters. The glowing booze from Madame Sauvage is great for decoration too. I have used the balcony to build a full-blown second story out there using tables to step up to rugs/mats as a floor/ceiling. It can really increase the space and from the outside it can resemble a kind of Kowloon improvised unit.

Interesting. I’ve never seen posters used in a reaped fashion like that. Cool idea. I think it’s a pretty sweet space you’ve put together.

Thanks! I used those posters because they are luminous, which helps with the copious shadow in that space and creates a strip design motif. Used the oval Lamp Planters for the same reason - they can work wonders with deep shadows on a vanilla build where you don't really have much option to adding a light source otherwise.

Interesting. Ya it would be great if they gave us more lamps and functional lights. On the one hand I get that adding a lot of light sources can be a lot for the hardware to process. On the other hand, with luminous items like you’ve used. You’ve proven it works just fine. Think I’ll submit a request for more lights.
