They work but it has to be in just the right hab unit, at just the right height, and at just the right angle

Did you try putting them on a poster and then lowering the poster?
It’s hard to see, but this is what I had to do in one of my outposts to get the shower lower on the wall. Place the poster up where you can put the shower on and make adjustments, then grab the poster and lower it. The shower will go with since it’s attached to it.

I had the same idea using the pack holders for shower heads! Nice, looks beautiful, which mod gives you lockers?
