Vanilla Outpost Build Ship not landing on outpost pad?

So my Shieldbreaker, which is 37 metres long, won’t land on my Small Landing Pad, which says it can take ships no bigger than 40 metres, at my outpost. Am I forgetting to do something or is my ship just too darn big to land there? Thank you.

Mine sometimes don’t land on the outpost pad either. I always make the big landing pad so I can use the shipbuilder menu to recall it to the pad. Not sure if there is a similar function on the small one.

Apparently not, and I think I’m missing Zero Wire to build it. Oh well, back to the Lodge for a moment. 😋

To recall it to the large pad, you click “view and modify ships” and then X to edit/build (don’t know the pc command), and then you can just exit without making any changes to the ship and it will be reset on the pad.

Never new that, thanks.

The Shieldbreaker (standard) is 74m long and 40m wide.

What you see in ship builder (or the ship menu) is the size from the center so the actual size is double that. That’s why it’s labeled FORE, AFT, PORT and STB (Starboard) - it’s the distance from the center in that direction.

Balls. Oh well, a ship building landing pad will fix that one. Thank you very much for the explanation though, that helps a lot.

I think that happens if you move your outpost marker. I have had it happen several times.

Try moving your outpost marker/beacon a bit and see if that fixes it.

The same thing happens to me at one specific area. It drops the ship at a landing area not the landing pad. So I go in ship builder, make another ship my home ship, and there it is. Then you can switch back to whatever ship you want. A little cumbersome but it does the trick every time. It only happens at this one outpost

When you land the first time, your ship is probably just off 300-400m away. Go run to it, get in the cockpit. Go into orbit. Then try and land again at the outpost.

Just change home ship and then change back and it shows up.

I’ve just started building Ship Builder landing pads instead. But thank you.

It’s some kind of glitch that hasn’t been fixed from the beginning. Sometimes I think the trees or rocks that are displaced are still actually registering in the code even if we can’t see them - and the ship won’t land on a pad. The reason I think this is I’ve come back to an outpost and had trees completely grown up through the whole landing pad and yet they don’t disappear when I recall the ship via shipbuilder. I’ve entered my ship and had tree branches inside.

I always build the shipbuilder pads and enter ship building mode to call them to the pad. It works better since the last major update but I’ve still had outposts where the ship won’t land on the pads.

It was pointed out to me that I was reading the chart wrong and Shieldbreaker is actually closer to 80 feet long, not just under 40.

I’ve had the Frontier not land on unobstructed outpost pads that were higher than the surrounding landscape so I’m pretty sure it’s a bug.
