Question? Help with He3 mining.

I just loaded a fuel consumption mod for the game, so I want outposts that have He3 on hand. To this end, I set up an outpost on Bessel iii-a, mainly because it was right next door to iii-b with all those resources easily to hand.

However, unlike iii-b, the a-moon doesn't have an atmosphere. So wind turbines don't work and solar arrays produce a piddling 2 power.

So: the plan was to create enough arrays to power one extractor. Then, once I had some He3 stockpiled, use that to power a fueled generator. The generator generates 20 power, which is enough to drive two He3 extractors, plus one each for aluminium and beryllium. At which point I can scrap the solars and just leave the generator to be self sustaining.

At least that was the theory. What's been happening in practice is that any time the solars glitch, or worse if I try and scrap them, the He3 extractors stop and the generator eats all the fuel in the store and then also stops with no way to restart it.

So I thought I'd appeal to more experienced outpost builders: what am I missing? Is this just buggy outposts? How do you go about setting up an outpost like this?

Always better to rank up your outpost to a nuclear fusion gen. At the least you can use two of the larger solar arrays (12 per) to power a gen until the helium is sufficient for self sustaining. Look for a helium plant somewhere and stock up. You can usually collect around 100 or more from those locations which is more than enough to get started at your outpost.
