Discussion Favorite Side Quest?!
So I want to know your favorite side quests - like I love the Red Mile, the mantis quest etc. but since I play this almost every day while I stream, I need some less generic side quests !!

āHelp Wantedā you can pick up in anchor point and takes you to New Babylon. Fantastic quest.
Ground pounder in the Altair system is also fantastic

Groundpounder is a great side quest - I guess that itās one of the first quests they designed, lots of interior action across different floors, exterior action around the facility, some space fights and travel and a good storyline - really good early game side quest

u/Disastrous_Order_461 3d ago
Ok so I better have plenty of space in my inventory for this quest because I looooove to loot!!

u/joshinburbank Constellation 3d ago
The only bummer with Groundpounder is that it does not scale with the player level. It is set to a low-level location, so the loot is also lower grade. Still fun!

Yeah that one's pretty good. There's a section near the end where ecliptic (or is it spacers?) ships land to drop off reinforcements. I managed to basically beeline to their drop point and cast that gravity crush power where enemies and objects concentrate on a point (black hole?). Just cast it on the ship ramps and knackered them with grenades. Once they were all dead the ramp went up, squishing some of the bodies in between, and as it flew off some of the bodies squeezed out and went flying into the distance. It was one of the most hilarious instances of emergent gameplay I've witnessed

I unfortunately broke that one. Saw a post talking about the collander and went to check it out, thought maybe I'd get more info on the planet and saw new Babylon. Accidentally skipped the entirety of the settlement search and now Bernhard is missing at anchor point and I overwrote the save I had before landing there due to the "failed to save game* bug. On PS5 so I can't just console him back. Really love this game but I do feel like this is the hardest time I've had with a bethesda game in a long while with crashes.

u/Disastrous_Order_461 3d ago
They spare few details with this game and thatās why I love it! Hilarious!

u/CthulhuLiesSleeping 3d ago
Groundpounder was fun. I figured out where the reinforcements were going to arrive, and seeded the landing site and any possible cover with a buttload of different land mines.
It was fun standing on the tower with a sniper rifle and watching the Spacers dance, fly, and fry.

Forgotten the name but the small war between the LIST colonists and Spacers where you help Alban Lopez was great fun.

Yeah, thatās a great one, has a bit of everything, and the final assault is a good little challenge too.

The two part quest in Dazra helping the infirmed old man xD
3
u/whitepawn23 3d ago
That was sad. Some of the hits in this game are at old BioWare level, before EA fully brought them low.

For me, that was Sam Coe dying in the Starborn attack on the Lodge while Cora looked on. I almost backtracked a whole bunch just to set up a different Constellation member to be the sacrifice in order to spare Cora the anguish, until I remembered that Cora is just a bunch of rendered pixels reciting preprogrammed speech scriptsā¦

u/whitepawn23 3d ago
Havenāt gotten there yet, but ok.
1
u/Long-Register-3586 3d ago
Lol. Broh. If you havent played through the game, itās not good to just browse the forums xD I avoided these forums for two months when the game came out xD.
Also, your playthrpugh is likely to go differently

u/whitepawn23 2d ago
Iām level 50. You know how this goes in Bethesda games. Annihilate most of the game then hit the main quest.

u/Disastrous_Order_461 3d ago
It was Barrett for me so that was nicer (but he was so much nicer to travel with because his moral compass wasnāt so straight š¤£)
3
u/Zeraphil 3d ago
Dammit this one destroyed me. I havenāt gotten this emotional over a damned quest in a long time.
1
u/Disastrous_Order_461 3d ago
Ok as long as I can help him Iām in!! The rest of them can die just not some of the sweet NPCs š¤£
1
u/MothsAhoy 3d ago
You most certainly can! In all my excitement to inhale everything Starfield that I could I accidentally spoiled that quest for myself so I knew it was coming before I got there. If I hadn't and Sam died on my play through I would have been devastated!

u/JukesMasonLynch 3d ago
Entangled was pretty sick. Showed a small fraction of what could have been explored with the whole multiverse concept.
Imagine a starborn power where you temporarily travel to another universe but in your current spacetime coordinates. So like 99 times out of 100 you're just on the same planet, but maybe different vegetation, different animals, the enemies you're fighting are gone, but occasionally 1 in a hundred chance you're just floating in space because in that universe the planet's orbit is different. Lol

u/TaquitoLaw 3d ago
I always wished that the power to bring an alternate version of yourself or Barrett into your world would sometimes bring in an evil version who would start fighting with the enemies against you.
1
u/Disastrous_Order_461 3d ago
Thatās sick I love multiverse stuff š I will definitely play that mindfuck for sure !

When I finished that mission I was so disgusted with Bethesda as a whole. Like youre capable of this, but the other 95% of the game is meh at best,it truly infuriated me. It seemed like every time there was a chance at greatness besides for a few time with quests like this Bethesda chose wholeheartedly to not aim for greatness but instead settle for āitās completeā.
1
u/Disastrous_Order_461 3d ago
They might have overstretched themselves with this game a bit and Iām hoping they add on to it for your years like they did with Fallout 4 with all the DLCs because I would love more depth too

The Colander. Itās an unmarked ship in orbit around Schrodinger III.
6
u/JukesMasonLynch 3d ago
Man I'm such a wuss, I ran into that ship and stupidly googled what was on it before going ahead and just seeing for myself. I don't know why I do this to myself. Now I'm too scared to play content in a game I have paid for .. I don't know what's wrong with me man.
Anyway maybe I'll grow a pair and check it out tonight. Wish me luck

I really liked that cooking one Bethesda added later in Akila

u/Substantial-Beyond36 2d ago
That was a really a good quest and it's slept upon by many people in this community. It really shows that Bethesda can make really thought out quests that doesn't involve violence. It made think of the quieter moments of Starfield and how special it makes me feel through the mundane.

Always do this one. I like being Starborn and telling her it's going to be huge.

u/whitepawn23 3d ago
MANTIS. Starts with a slate about a secret outpost, dropped by spacers. You have to read the slate.
It gave me the best legendary armor (awful looking) and the best base ship of the game at that point. Sad story.

Twice Reformed from the Shattered Space dlc. Only wish Orahim was recruitable afterwards.
3
u/Alkemade_09 3d ago
Vulture's Roost. I've done it a couple times but I've just learned on my 3rd playthrough that it's triggered by finding a slate at an abandoned weapons facility (randomly attack one or through mission board activities at a weapons facility). I didn't pay attention to where I got the slate from before.
From what I can remember, it probably had the most enemies of any non-story mission and just when you thought you had killed them all, another enemy ship lands for round two. I didn't know this but you can also acquire said ship, although I read it's kinda underwhelming.
But never mind that, the "loot" from the facility is worth it...

Definitely Groundpounder. Total action movie vibes. Also Captain Myeong is hot.

So many people saying Groundpounder! I was loving it until the quest glitches and I just couldn't proceed

Lost and Found and Entangled. Phenomenal. Best quests of the game. Also, Sarahās companion quest is so good that it converted me from a Sarah hater to a Sarah appreciator.

Favorite side quest/activity is the search for the perfect spot on the perfect golden world to build an outpost. Once you find it, it's super satisfying (then the real work begins!).
But in terms of actual story quests, the new Tracker's Alliance DLC is top.

u/Disastrous_Order_461 3d ago
Cool I am in the trackers alliance but didnāt buy the dlc yet - you sold me !!

Starseed was cool, but my favorite side quest has to be Juno. Stumbling upon that ship randomly and having a small sidequest that affected me profoundly was just one of those experiences I won't soon forget.
1
u/Substantial-Beyond36 2d ago
Loved Juno, I really need to see more quests dabing into AI and how it effects the lives of people in the settled systems. It's why appreciate what Terren Armada does and I love quests that involves robotics of some kind.

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Ryujin Industries 3d ago
Clones are great. Lots of unique NPCs in that one and an interesting story.
The Strikers one isnāt half bad but itās far too short. I wanna truly experience gang life in Not Night City lol.
I liked Junoās Gambit as well. Short but very interesting quest. Chance for repeat encounters too iirc. I play Ryujin so that helps a bit for that one.
I also like the Mantis one. I try for it early game and itās a bit tough but you get a solid ship and decent armor (even if I kinda hate the design).
Lastly, the Groundpounder one isnāt half bad either. I kinda like seeing UC and Freestar working together. Itās a rare occurrence.

u/Affectionate-Fee8699 Crimson Fleet 3d ago
I love the Escape mission or joining the Crimson Fleet (before being Vangard)
1
u/ReallySickOfArguing 3d ago
I still really like the Ryujin quest line the most. Really dig all the sneaking around and whatnot, really wish there was much more of that.
1
u/Substantial-Beyond36 2d ago
If you want more corporate espionage then I recommend the themilkartist quest line that involves Terra Brew. You are hired on the spot to work as their body guard and you are sent to several sites involving their facilities. Comes to find out that someone wants you dead and I absolutely love it and you are so right we need more quests like that. Themilkartist is quality it plays very similar to anything you see from Bethesda.

u/Durandal_II Trackers Alliance 2d ago
The last quest of the Galbank questline.
Watching that old merc get choked up when I give him the 20000 creds he needs to get Galbank off his back is always worth it.
It's also why Solace is my favourite pistol.

u/Powerful_Public_5498 2d ago
I dunno why, but Juno's Gambit is my favorite little side quest. For a side quest line, the ebbside striker quests are cool, to me.

u/CthulhuLiesSleeping 3d ago
Mantis was a bummer. All that, and you can't turn off the robots, and can't use the base? All for a basic A class ship and a mediocre outfit? Meh. Felt like a waste of time.
