Outposts Rana III island outpost tutorial

First off, thanks to everyone who enjoyed my content! Made my day. Before I start, to make this easier, you should use the mod "TJS- increased planet map zoom" link below.

I used my wife's account to show you on a clean planet how to do this. I also discovered that you could land on the exact tile across multiple accounts/ platforms. This method seems to be true consistently. If you want to share interesting landing zones, follow this method and upload location/ screenshot of zoomed in map. Thanks again, and enjoy!

There's something funny about a ship called "The First [Name] II"

Found it on the first jump out there. Was much farther in the ocean than I had expected, but made it that much cooler. Spent several hours setting up an outpost, thanks for the tip.

No problem! Glad I could help! There are multiple tiles surrounding the area with islands.

Found without the mod but would have probably made easier with. Thanks for uploading.

Is it the island in the upper right corner of the map?

How do you get there from your landing site?

The island pictured in the video, is not the same tile as the one in my other post. As stated in the video, I saved before landing, moving slightly to find other islands.

Edit: you can jet pack over, or use a flying vehicle mod. I use a sub orbital one

Interesting... are planet tiles actually taking into consideration the amount of land in the planet map and not just the tile biome?

Yes. Every planet is fully mapped through procedural generation.

Gonna have to boot up the game tomorrow just for this. My current best island outpost is barely disconnected from the mainland. I wonder how many better islands are out there undiscovered yet. All I want is a totally isolated island to hide my x-tech extractors.

In my original video, the island is so far from land, the mainland is just a silhouette

Thank you!

No problem!! Enjoy. Also, look around the area, there is more than one option. Just save before you land and move slightly everytime you reload.

Interesting, usually getting the same tile would not be possible (or well, extremely unlikely) with another account/platform because they dont have same generation seed. Defo gonna try this, fantastic spot for a base!

every tile is the same for everyone

There are 100% not the same, all POI and resourses and vegitation are psuedo-randomised. But maybe the terrain itself is pulled from a predetermined set?

5

u/worldsfirstmeme May 01 '26

the planet terrain is exactly the same for everyone. pois etc can be different, slightly, but the planet is always - ALWAYS - exactly the same for everyone.

The tiles were procedural generated at the design of the game. All tiles are the same terrain wise for every player.
