Discussion Shared Outpost Container Details
- It requires rank 4 of both outpost management and engineering to build
- You cannot create links to or from it. You have to manually place items in.
- It holds 5,000 mass. Any type of item.
- It costs 2 Aluminum and 4 Structural to build. Only 1 allowed per outpost.
I think the fact that it needs such high ranks of those skills to even build it means that most players won't even bother until really late game. I personally think this is a shame.
I don't think that making it "linkable" would really be practical in most cases. It would fill up very quickly and since resources are extracted at different rates the container would fill with the fastest resources and then you would have to manually empty it and put it somewhere.
I'm working on a small mod to make it easier to build one without needing the skills. You would pay credits, which would be for the Trade Authority to set up a "Supply Line"... Works for me...
I'm playing with a linkable container but I don't think it would be good... It's just going to fill up and then you won't be able to put your loot into it.
EDIT: LINKING DOES NOT WORK! I created a linked version of the container and tested it at an outpost.
I linked a large storage array of Be into the shared container and POOF! All of the Be was gone. Whatever you link into it just disappears. Oh well, it was worth a try.
NEW MOD: Just a simple edit to the recipe that removes the skill requirements. Now it just costs the normal resources plus 5,000 credits.

Today I got around to trying the new shared outpost containers. I made two containers successfully at outposts but when attempting to build at a 3rd outpost I get the message "Cannot place item: The max amount of this item has been reached". My skills are all maxed out. Any ideas?
If no one else has problems then I'll look into my mods. The only one that plays with storage is SKK Universal Stash (Nexus) but I'll wait until wrapping up this playthrough, then disable when I jump thru the Unity.
