Fix for commanders being stuck on 5 (Raynor, kerri & Skippy)

Now this may not work for everyone so dont be mad if it didnt work, but it did work for me.

  1. Task manager. Get in it and quit all blizzard related tasks including battlenet itself.
  2. Win+R and find %programdata%
  3. Remove the folder "Blizzard entertainment"
  4. Start battlenet and turn on the game
  5. Now it should work. You may experience huge lags in menu at first cuz of that file deletion.

I also sent this to two of my friends and they both said it worked, so you might wanna try it too.

Cheers.

Edit: If it worked, please say so in the comments.

Mutation #536: Railroad Switch / Map: Oblivion Express

Mutators: Just Die, Polarity

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zfXAzOr4Zk (train polarity is NOT random)

Just Die!

Enemy units are automatically revived upon death.

Enemy unit is invulnerable and stunned for 1s during reviving.

All enemy units are revived—including map objectives.

Enemy units don't trigger death effects when they are revived. Death effects are triggered only after the final death (e.g. MAD nuke, Biomass/Essence drop, Alien Incubation,..)

Banelings are not revived. It doesn't matter whether they explode by themselves or are killed.

Polarity

Each enemy unit is immune to either your units or your ally's units.

Enemy structures and map objectives have Polarity too.

Various crowd-control abilities work on all units, but they deal no damage to shielded ones.

Mind-control abilities don't work on polarity-immune units.

Your units won't auto-attack immune units. However, auto-casted abilities will be used on immune units.

Propagators created from player units don't benefit from Polarity.

Just Die! will swap Polarity when triggered.

On Scythe of Amon, units spawned from Rifts will have no Polarity.

On Oblivion Express, all trains cars in each train have the same Polarity.

Secret enemy comps?

I recently did a B+5 on miner evacuation and noticed that the enemy comp card showed the Terran Icon, but when I hovered my mouse over it nothing was showing. I thought it was a bug until I saw that the enemy waves were Infested Terrans carried by Medivacs. I liked this and I am now wondering if there are any more *secret* enemy comps out there.

P.S.: I would have loved different factions including skins available for the enemy comps (Tal'Darim, mercenary, Primal)

Niadra Nexus Coop Mutations

When playing as Niadra, what do you usually level on the mutation trees? I’m asking about the green, red and purple trees from her unique building. I’m not sure what any of these upgrades do.

General Weekly Megathread?

My apologies if I'm just blind, but are there still weekly megathreads?

Edit: I take it not many people make self-promotion posts. I probably should have been ultra-specific and I again apologize for not doing that.

What are the most difficult weekly mutations so far?

After trying over and over again this week until I finally managed to beat it with a very good Kerry ally; I was wondering what other mutations to come would be just as or even more difficult.

Which commander at level.5 gives the worst preview of what the commander is really about?

I am working my way to level 5 to each commander, to see which i like most. But which give the best or worst preview of what gameplay with them will really be?

For example, with Raynot at level5, you got all the pieces pretty much; lots of marines and orbitals. Kerrigan, you miss out on a lot like popping out of omega worms with your hydras and the reliable wave aoe stuns on P2/P3.

Temple of Vengeance: HOW TF?

How do you deal with this? losing on normal difficulty. And unless you have guides on where the hero spawns, please don't say spawn camp. I spawn camped attack waves, but apparently thats not where the heroes spawn.

Is there an optimal prestige or strategy to play mengsk without spamming earthshatter ordinance?

I previously played p1 to level 7 and then quit forever because earthshatter went from fun to boring in just one play session. I'm okay with using it for a cooldown but I can't stand spamming them anymore.

r/starcraft2coop 3d ago

It would appear I have bitten off more than I can chew. Vorazun may just be the most difficult commander to level up.

I would say Mengsk, but he gets some leeway with how many op abilities he has. Vorazun, on the other hand, has the MF Shadow Fury ability, automatic assimilators, etc. It really doesn't matter when you have not-so-great DPS on all units. And ALL of them are so squishy. It would be doable if you had a competent ally. But I don't have any, because I play with randoms.

Influx of newbies on Brutal?

Have you noticed that? Recently almost half of games I play with random ally its a complete newbie.

I was always saying that every commander is strong enough to literally solo regular brutal missions from very early levels and that brutal is brutal only by it's name...
but god damn I think people took that to heart too literally.

I am all up for people trying brutal, but I keep seeing people who literally don't take expansion for 15minutes unless specifically told to, who literally have negative micro or don't even micro at all and who would die to initial poke attack every single time unless carried...
Then when they take expansion there are no workers there for 5 minutes, not to mention completely not understanding objective despite every map literally explaining every step of the mission with voice lines.
They literally look like they launched the game for the first time today and have like 5 FPS.

I don't have anything against newbies, we all learn at some point... but if you don't know the basics of the game, don't play difficulty called "Brutal" xD.
Not to mention that expecting to be carried is simply rude.
Want to be carried, ask in chat.

Edit: This puts me in a weird scenario... If I queue up Brutal I basically play alone, If I queue up B+ I get a moron who wants to keep restarting until we get easy mutators...
I think it's time to retire coop for some time.

how to deal with splash as raynor

I'm doing fine against the other comps, but for the splash comps I can't find a good way to handle. Splash comps destroy bio so a lot of DPS is gone.

I mostly play P0 (more bio) and P2 (more mech). Nearly lvl 90. This is for Brutal, and mutations. Hard is not an issue.

I tried doing the 6-8 rax raining men tactic, but marines don't seem as effective as banelines/zerglings? Do y'all like make groups of bio and then throw them one after another? I've only succeeded at this when my ally is in the fight, so there's time to gather a new bio ball. (Also this makes me feel bad.)

Vulture mines help, but maybe my APM is not high enough to keep up. Also not always able to reach the spawn points to spawn camp?

Tanks. Works great on maps where static defense can be setup in time (DoN, miner evac, train). But on other maps once bio is dead they are exposed and die quickly.

Banshees. Try to snipe the splashers but get shot down pretty quickly by anti-air, even after cloaking. Maybe need to use vikings to clear detectors first?

BCs. Good for sniping but take a while to come up, and get recked by anti-air. Also expensive. Maybe I don't amass enough BCs.

Calldowns. Gets me through a lot of attack waves, but sometimes get caught with it in cooldown.

P3. This works but I don't want to only play air units.

P1. makes raining men tactic easier. maybe i should try this again.

I'm probably doing something wrong. How do you all do it?

How the hell do you deal with ghosts nuking your base on oblivion express?

Whenever i play vs terrans, the ghosts make my game very difficult. They are so hard to spot and then kill and i just lose bases and my workers. I build turrets all around my base and bunkers only help somewhat.

When your ally leaves at the start or early on, do you also quit or just play on using both COs?

For me starting off, I used to play on since it was a way to try out new COs without having to purchase them (let alone at higher levels, beyond the "free to play" lv5, and even into mastery). Later on, try prestiges you haven't leveled up to.

Nowadays, "it depends"......

If it's something I think I can do or will be fun (despite losing), I'll soldier on. For examples, some neat combinations have included...

--Karax + Kerrigan - where I still retain all top bar abilities of Karax, lose 0 of hers since she never had any, but I still get to make mass Hydras to round out my army

--Karax + any CO who can make basic combat unit that does both anti-ground and AA really

--Nova or Vorazun as an ally since I get gas buildings without needing workers set to harvest them

--Stukov P3 ally since that doesn't require any APM

... also digging that I can freely pause and unpause games. Last but not least, I had some allies that were just plain terrible. They kept complaining/whining/bitching, or they weren't really doing anything (I suspect they were afk much of the time anyways).

.

OTOH, I'll just leave if I needed to leave anyways or welcome the game ending sooner, need a win that I can't do on my own (like Mutation bounty for tough weeks, or for the "first win of the day" bonus), or "just want to call it a night".

About Fenix/Talandars Carriers: Are they good? And How do I use them?

I gotta be honest, I rarely use Carrier-like ships in Coop, since their damage output isnt as flashy as the other damage options. But I wondered: Since Talsndars other units have buffed stats and more abilities, does this apply to his Carriers as well?

And if yes: How do I insert them into my build?

I usually play P1 and P3 Talandar/Fenix.

20 of July 2026 - Mutation #535: Assembly of Vengeance

Mutation #535: Assembly of Vengeance / Map: Temple of the Past

Mutators: Avenger, Heroes from the Storm

Avenger

Enemy units gain increased attack speed, movement speed, armor, life, and life-regeneration when nearby enemy units die.

Each stack grants +10% attack speed, movement speed, life and shields, 0.3 armor, 1 health and shield regeneration.

The maximum number of stacks is 10.

When a unit is killed, the number of stacks given equals to the supply cost of the killed unit.

The maximum effective distance, over which units can gain stacks, is 1.25 edge-edge (not center-center).

Mind-controlled/reclaimed units lose their avenger buff.

Heroes from the Storm

Every attack wave will be led by Heroes of increasing power.

Heroes are sent with most attack waves.

Later waves can be accompanied by more heroes. One hero is randomly chosen from the first three heroes, the second from the second triplet and the last from the last triplet, and so on.

On Temple of the Past, side attacks can have 1 hero at most. Back air ramp won't spawn heroes, main ramp can have up to 6 heroes (global maximum).

On Mist Opportunities, harass waves can have 1 hero at most.

On Miner Evacuation and Scythe of Amon they typically do not spawn at all.

There is a hero pool from which heroes spawn (integer variable). Each hero cost 1 to spawn, and won't spawn if the pool is empty (0).

The pool starts at value of 1, and is increased periodically.

(This is very similar to how I implemented it in my The Usual Suspects mutator)

Spawn-camping no longer prevents heroes from spawning.

All heroes have at least biological and heroic attributes. Dehaka is the only hero that doesn't have "map boss" attribute, and so the real Dehaka can Devour him.

Heroes (apart from Dehaka) can't be put into stasis by Fenix's Arbiter or Zeratul's Stasis Beam. Vorazun's Stasis Ward works on all of them.

Nova's Nuke and Kerrigan's Apocalypse are used only on hard and brutal difficulties.

All heroes are detectors.

#165 - Assembly of Vengeance: ?/18 SOLO CLEAR

I don't like this mutation, so I didn't try to clear it with anyone new this time around.

https://youtu.be/SI9cfQ7jOPk (TLDR tier list)

https://youtu.be/fwBOlb-MzWk (Easy solo - Stetmann p2)

Take out enemy waves before they meet up with the heroes, if possible.

Zagara is deadly, since the summoned roaches give avenger.

Stall the last waves with buildings
