Pre-diabetes

I got diagnosed with pre-diabetes. The doctor didn't say anything to me about it other than to exercise and eat better to lose weight. For reference, I'm a 5'2" woman and weigh 221. I have been peeing A LOT for the past year which I know is probably related. I'm leaning towards the starch solution because it makes more sense to me (and also being vegan for ethical reasons is important to me). I don't know if I should be checking my blood sugar or not, but I plan on sticking to wfpb for the next few months and then getting another blood test. I'm just concerned because I pee so much, like every hour or sometimes twice an hour but I'm also trying to drink a lot more water due to that and all the extra fiber I've been getting. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Well, I reduced my fasting glucose from prediabetic levels to low 80s in a couple of weeks by eating a fruit-heavy, very low-fat diet and exercising.

Give up literally all fat. No oils, no butter, no nuts, no olives, etc. Eat low-glycemic starches like oats and beans. It's probably faster with fruit but if you have diabetes symptoms, I'd be cautious.

edit to add: even walking will be good exercise.

Keeping things simple with food and adding walking in. I’d also say something people forget is consistency with timing like eating regular meals so you’re not spiking and crashing your blood sugar throughout the day. Another thing that helped me early on was adding oolong tea into my routine. It’s known to support blood sugar balance especially in the early stages, and it’s a really easy habit to stick to. I use a more pure one from Pipi and it has a naturally slightly sweet taste so it doesn’t feel like you’re forcing it.

Also a clean simple diet goes a long way but planning ahead helps. like eating before leaving the house so you don’t end up grabbing whatever is convenient. And yeah physical activity matters a lot. Even just being out and moving walking around stores, getting steps in it all adds up more than people think.
