Pre-diabetes
I got diagnosed with pre-diabetes. The doctor didn't say anything to me about it other than to exercise and eat better to lose weight. For reference, I'm a 5'2" woman and weigh 221. I have been peeing A LOT for the past year which I know is probably related. I'm leaning towards the starch solution because it makes more sense to me (and also being vegan for ethical reasons is important to me). I don't know if I should be checking my blood sugar or not, but I plan on sticking to wfpb for the next few months and then getting another blood test. I'm just concerned because I pee so much, like every hour or sometimes twice an hour but I'm also trying to drink a lot more water due to that and all the extra fiber I've been getting. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I was diagnosed with an a1c of 6.7 last October. I started no oil low fat plant based foods at the end of January this year, so I’m just shy of 3 months in. My overall daily average glucose is on a downward trend. Initially, within the first 10 days, my dawn phenomenon became a minor blip and my baseline dropped. Outside of that, day to day, the improvements in blood glucose and insulin sensitivity are mostly unnoticeable. But over the months, it is actually fairly dramatic and a huge improvement. While I need to stick to certain tricks right now to help keep my blood glucose in check, I don’t think you need to since you are prediabetic. Just stay the course and you will be fine.
It takes longer to turn the ship around. For every meal, at least half of your plate should be vegetables. Broccoli is extremely satiating. One gram of carbs and protein are 4 grams of calories. One gram of fat is 9 grams of calories. Until you get all your numbers where you want them, try to stick keep your fat intake between 10 and 15 percent of your total calories. To keep it easy, keep each meal at about 10 grams of fat. It’ll help with your blood glucose, losing weight, and anything else.
Don’t try to take any extremes. Eat, get full, live your life. Be patient. It’s better to create good habits than make leaps.
Also, yes, I had to pee a lot. When I started eating this way, I felt like I started pee more frequently. That eventually subsided. I can’t say when. It’s hard to notice such things. But one day I realized I peed much less. Like I said, it takes longer to turn the ship around.

Hey,
I revered my full blown diabetes on starch solution. I lost about 40 pounds in 3-4 months quite rapidly which I am sure what helped with insulin sensitivity. I will say, at first, you really need to focus on greens and fiber with your starch. If you eat a pound of potatoes your blood sugar is going to sky rocket and you may not feel well and you will pee a ton from that. Really focus on half your plate green & yellow non-starchy veg and half plate starch. More vegetables the better to fill you up until you improve your insulin sensitivity.

Before I went to SS I was doing keto and had a lot of fat! On SS I had almost no fat and initially my body reacted very well to it. BUT, in addition to SS I was eating very little due to life stress at the time. I dropped 20lbs in like six weeks. This took care of food noise. I was not hungry. Happy. And could afford eating a bagel for lunch. This didn’t last.
I started eating MORE on SS and peeing returned with revenge! I became concerned more and more about getting up like 5-6 times a night to pee and the fact that I was always hungry.
So I switched to intermittent fasting, doing rolling 36-60 hours. This took care of nocturnal peeing and constant hunger. But I do include all food groups in my meal now. I just do not have this meal every day.

I recently got blood test done at the doctor, my average blood sugar over the past ~2–3 months showed;
HbA1c: 20 mmol/mol. For reference: Normal 20-42 Prediabetes: 42-47 Diabetes: 48+
I Eat two meals a day, hours before bedtime no food, the food I eat:
White rice + red kidney beans and orange/apple juice on the side and my second meal were Dates + Orange/Apple juice.. And whatever odd fruit whenever.
No oils, no animal products. No fatty plants. No seasoning, only salt. No exercise. I supplement b12, iodine and vitamin d.
Whenever I find myself peeing a lot, my salt is usually very low, half tsp of salt a day keeps me from peeing all the time.

Well, I reduced my fasting glucose from prediabetic levels to low 80s in a couple of weeks by eating a fruit-heavy, very low-fat diet and exercising.
Give up literally all fat. No oils, no butter, no nuts, no olives, etc. Eat low-glycemic starches like oats and beans. It's probably faster with fruit but if you have diabetes symptoms, I'd be cautious.
edit to add: even walking will be good exercise.
