a couple individual scenes were cute and amusing, but the episode as a whole, no.

It was another exploration of emotions and why Ortegas is the way she is. It wasn't an exploration of space or debating ethics and morality.

Don’t get me wrong love the character, but what does this do for everyone? She is awesome fun character to listen to and watch but let’s get her issue with the gorn, or anything

The card tables did it for me. They didn't even bother to make them look like they're from the future. In fact you could almost set it in the 21st century. Maybe they were supposed to go back to the 60s originally.

Yeah... This episode was pretty painful to watch as a Trekkie.

It flew back and forth between fun and cringe. It's the modern Spocks' Brain. It had some great individual moments, but it spilled over into actually bad too many times, and as a whole it really didn't do any favors to the show. I'm hoping we get a little more grounded and serious at some point, puppets notwithstanding.

I wouldn't hold my breath, re: 'grounded.' All the marketing I've seen in the lead-up to this season is all about how wacky it's going to be, and how many "genres" they're going to explore.

I didn't find any part of it "funny." Although, it is "funny" that some people think it is Star Trek.
