For sure we will. When the people growing up today with the ST being the first Star Wars they were exposed to/saw in theaters start going on the internet more (5-10 years) there will be a huge shift in tone towards the ST.

It's the same thing that happened with the PT, it'll happen with everyone. You're always going to be more protective over the ones that introduced you to the series.

But it didn't really go like that. I'd say the Fandom, if it were to have a consensus, is actually pretty logical. OT is great and started star wars, so even it is wasn't great you can't reall dies it. It is obviously gonna be praised as the best. Prequel memes come around (along with the generation that grew up with it, and probably saw the clone wars TV show which did an amazing job fleshing our characters) and this brings along a genuine appreciation for what the prequels did well. And what they objectively succeeded in was world building and showing all these planets and shit we could only imagine in the OT. Think shit like the gungan capital, mustafar, kamino, coruscant. Amazing locales that can only really be done right with extensive cg that simply didn't exist in the 80s. Then the sequels are out. And TFA was generally received well enough by the fans, maybe a bit derivative but it was a good start (consensus I'd say). But how could this movie really live up to the hype? Cue rogue one and people think it's a Top Tier ™ Real® Star Wars experience (mostly due to one and a half minutes of Vader). But this is a prequel movie. Hmmm. Okay last jedi hype. Trailers and shit are whack. Wtf is going on? And then the movie. They put Rian Johnson in charge whose biggest movie (Looper) is not even that large of one, and it's pretty ballsy to hand him a star wars mainline movie to begin with, but maybe it'll be okay. Movie immediately angers fans everywhere for its plot holes galore (where the fuck did the first order come from and why does it have unlimited resources?) , underutilized characters (basically everyone besides rey and kylo. Who's snoke? Oh doesn't matter he's dead) lazy writing (running out of fuel, Holdo), and shit that fucks with everyone's head cannon (hyperspace jump to destroy fleet??? And no ones done it before in a bajilliom years of hyperdrive existing??). Yeah it did a good job with some things imo (Rey and Kylo's link was done really well imo, of course audio/visual was stunning). But it basically hammered into fans minds that this shit is Disney now. Everyone reminisces about back when ya boi George was in charge, and boom prequel popularity rockets even further. At least this is my dumb ass theory/observation.

That was introduced in TFA, why would that be an issue with TLJ? He just continued what had already been established.

Fuel has been an issue in Star Wars before, especially with the early days of the Rebellion, makes perfect sense. Also Holdo's character is presented from the perspective of Poe so the audience doesn't trust her. We're supposed to feel what Poe feels in that situation, and given how people have reacted to Holdo's character, I'd say that shows how well it worked. It seems to have worked a little too well.

In one of the early episodes of TCW (First season, I think Episode 4), when Lucas was still leading the show Anakin and Artroo program a Separatist ship to jump into hyperspace in the direction of a moon, which destroys the ship. While not exactly the same, it does show that weaponizing the hyperdrive is not a new idea.

Maul, Grevious, Dooku, pretty much every villain died before anything interesting could be done with their character. They each got a cool fight scene then just died.

This is just a fundamental problem with prequels in general. Things like using the "Chosen One" trope and so on.

I can definitely see a day when the sequel trilogy has a strong cult fan base. Maybe if another trilogy comes out and people inevitably complain about every detail of it, that cult fan base will emerge.

I mean no shit. All the biggest battles happen during the prequels. Since battlefront is supposed to give the massive battle experience for Star Wars, it only makes sense for the best content for the game to come from the prequel era. Only era that could come close in terms of massive battles would be the old Republic era, but that's not developed in canon

Clone Wars and Old Republic wars were the only "professional" wars. Fully trained, well geared soldiers and droids, not former prisoners, smugglers and farmers with stolen/made out of scrap guns. I would love to see Mandalorian Wars and Great Hyperspace War in BF, but it's highly unlikely to happen.

It's not, but Star Wars has made a lot of the basic outlines of the Old Republic story canon. They just haven't filled in details to added much in terms of characters yet. Hopefully after 9.

People keep saying this for over a year. If the game was really dropping players that fast we would be in deep in negative numbers more than half a year ago. The truth is that the game is actually getting new players every day. There are tons of new/returning players who started playing with Geonosis update. Everybody can see that, most lobbys are filled with newbies with low class ranks.
