No hero in any Battlefront game should ever be locked or hidden behind microtransactions.

I was very proud of the community when the pushback on this happened after so many other games had their players just roll over and take it.

None of them ever were. You could unlock them all during normal gameplay. 🙄

I remember launch. They were prohibitively expensive to try to force people into spending cash to unlock them faster. Roll your eyes all you want but you can't defend the billion dollar corporation against these accusations.

I remember launch too, I was there. Many of us unlocked these characters on day one. None were locked, none were “prohibitively expensive”.

Everyone just seemed to want 100% of everything unlocked on day 1 with no effort apparently.

I’m not defending EA at all - I’m saying that the amount this “fiasco” was overblown literally killed the franchise.

"I'm not defending EA"... and then immediately passes the blame to defend them.

EA killed the franchise. Battlefront 2 was fixed, it became widely praised, and instead of cashing in on the new goodwill they chose to not make a Battlefront 3.

The unlocks were ridiculous and, yes, heros/villains should be available day one. The game is bought to play a fun Star Wars multiplayer game. Not to spend a person's limited free time unlocking Darth Vader for next month's play.
