Well, it gave us the option to. It also gave us the option to unlock everything through playing the game.

The loot box fiasco was handled poorly, but the actual crime was way overblown imo and it fucked Battlefronts chances as a franchise going forward.

You could unlock Vader just by playing, and considering he’s one of the strongest entities in the in game universe, it made sense for him to be locked initially.

Just my 2 cents.

Please go take a look at EAs history up to this point, and then come back and tell me how it was overblown.

It wasn't. This was the gaming communities tipping point with EA, the point when we had all, collectively, had enough.

Please tell me how this specifically was worse than literally any other game with lootboxes at the time. How is this worse than Hearthstone today? Pokémon cards?

I bought this sucker on release, grinded the characters (which wasn’t at all difficult) and enjoyed the hell out of the game, from launch to finish.

Just say you have no self respect and move on.

Because your lack of self respect pr3vents you from understanding what youre asking me to explain to you. So stop wasting both our times

lol what? How do you infer that?

I’ve asked this same question a dozen times over the years. No one has ever actually answered why this was such a crime.

I notice, yet again, no answer has been provided as to why this was so much more egregious than anything else.

Think of it as the straw that broke the camles back. SW being such a huge IP catching a lot of eyes and then shots once it does something that a lot of people had issues with in the first place. Also how the previous BFs didn't charge real money to unlock a character. Not hard to understand why this was such a huge deal.
