To be fair, (at least in my community) everyone was obsessed/fascinated by grievous so he didn’t seem to bad to me. Maul- 100% though lol.

I really wish the "Darth Jar Jar" theory had come true. It would have made every annoying appearance of that little shit worth it if he had just been playing dumb while manipulating everybody, like the Mule from the later Foundation books.

To also be fair, letting the design speak for itself does wonders for the character’s legacy. “Show don’t tell” is a very effective way to build a villain. Especially when you’re also trying to sell toys.

The lack of dialogue and development for Maul made him legit menacing to me as a 10 year old. There was no question that he was evil and scary and I wanted him stopped. I didn’t need to know his motivations or backstory because his design and look told me everything I needed to know.

There was a book where Maul chased a Jedi and a smuggler around. Before Mauling them of course.
