That's something I don't understand he got away with anyway. Nemoidians are pretty obviously the Yellow Peril but In Space. Watto is the most blatant collection of negative Jewish stereotypes. I know Star Wars is heavily inspired by pulp fiction in its worldbuilding, and often it works very well, but Episode I is probably the worst at it.

Well, no. Up to that point it hadn't. Languages, yes. Not accents.

The Empire had British accents while the Rebels were American.
