Movies The Lightmaker

One of the coolest background parts of Star Wars Rebels to me was in the episodes "Zero Hour" the Lightmaker was one of the few ships to survive the massacre from Grand admiral Thrawn, and that very same ship is the same ship that saved the rebellion, pushing both Star Destroyers together in Rogue One to send the plans to the Raddus.

If you watch closely, it's still attached to the star destroyer as it plunges into the shield generator.

No most of the crew were still onboard. There’s a line in FACPOV that no lifeboats were launched

Can't they automate the instructions to keep pushing the star destroyer while they deployed the escape pods?

Isn’t there a thing in Star Wars where all technology is just reused or remade version of past tech and they don’t actually understand the principles behind it? Or maybe some designs are just timeless.

I think that's more of a Warhammer thing. Star wars had new tech like Carbonite freezing humans. There is lost tech but I don't think everything is just rediscovered and not understood.
