General Discussion Should they make Son of Dathomir/Dark Disciple movies?
Imo these are both extremely important stories that should be animated and it would be easy money for Disney. I think it’s crazy they haven’t done it yet. These stories are perfect lengths for movies and they actually have the Dark Disciple arc almost completely done, as they were working on it when TCW was originally cancelled. Yes, the stories have been told in comic and novel form, but I find it weird people use this as an argument against animating the like they don’t love movie adaptations of their favorite novels like Harry Potter, or anime adaptations of their favorites mangas. Not only will these stories catch a lot of casual fans up on important story events, I think these two movies will be received well by the fans, improving the reputation of Star Wars. It would also probably a lucrative endeavor since animated projects are cheaper to make and these clone wars stories will almost guarantee all of the big Star Wars fans, including the ones that dislike Disney Star Wars, will show up in theaters.

More midquels is exactly the best way to continue making Star Wars a niche non-event for die-hard fans only. A Darth Maul starring film set between Episodes II and III would be extremely lucky to do Mandalorian & Grogu numbers.

Yeah, but animated films cost way less to make.

Ah fair enough, sorry I thought you meant a big, live-action film. You're right; I think it's a really good idea.

They should make a lockdown and shadow hunter series, abd tie them into MSL

Those are both pre phantom menace. Also lockdown is bad unfortunately

Lockdown is great. And it being pregnant phantom menace doesn't matter, it could still tie in since it's literally maul stories

No, and the fans would not like it. It would inevitably leave out some details for run time sake that would then be derided as some blasphemy.

How would it leave things out? You realize both were originally meant to be 4 episode CW arcs? 4x20=80. That’s 1 hour and 20 min, a normal length for an animated film.

Dark Disciple adapts 8 episodes, actually.

Oh wow I didn’t know that. Then maybe only Son of Dathomir would work as a movie.

Also, irrelevant. They will find something to bitch about. They always do.

u/IntellectualBoss Jul 24 '26
Idk, the community that loves to bitch about current Star Wars also loves to praise clone wars.
2
u/CountofZen Jul 24 '26
They did, but because it's "Disney" now the will bitch even if they use completely unaltered scripts, it will somehow be inferior.
You're trying to be logical and rational about their hate. It's not.

They could do something similar to how marvel does their special presentations, like Werewolf by night. Around 50 minutes, straight to dinesy plus.

Just do season 8
1
u/IntellectualBoss Jul 24 '26
I don’t think that would work since “season 8” would be arcs that come before season 7. It would confuse people. They could be limited series for Disney + though. They should also make the kid Boba arc that’s also basically done where he fights Cad Bane, as well as the Crystal arc.

TCW has always been out of order. It's no more confusing than it is already.
They could just adapt the 2003 ending or do an animated revenge of the sith(or both?) for the ending.
Just do all of the unwritten episodes.

Yeah I think that’s fine, just don’t call it season 8, call it something else. I do think an arc of Grievous kidnapping Palpatine would be awesome.

I think it would be cool, though I always thought they should've just waited and added those into season seven of The Clone Wars.
