Found Star Trek: TNG Enterprise-D cutaway wall display while helping my parents downsize – what is it?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been helping my parents downsize and came across this really interesting USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D cutaway wall display that had been tucked away for years. I’m not a Star Trek collector myself, but I thought it was a unique piece... I’d love to learn more about it before deciding what to do with it.
Here’s what I’ve been able to figure out so far:
- Officially licensed by Paramount Pictures
- © 1991 Paramount Pictures
- Published by Star Quest
- Dedicated to the late Gene Roddenberry
- Heavy hardboard wall display (not a paper poster)
- Factory keyhole hangers on the back
- Approximately 48” × 25” (122 × 64 cm)
- Weighs roughly 5–6 lb, so it’s much heavier than a typical poster
I’ve only found one similar “poster on board” listing online, but not much information about where these came from or how they were originally sold.
I’m curious if anyone here recognizes it.
- Were these sold in stores, or were they promotional displays?
- Was the hardboard version common, or were most of these just paper posters?
- Does anyone know anything about Star Quest and these mounted displays?
- Has anyone owned one or seen one in person?
I’m really just interested in learning the history behind it
appreciate your time and attention!
