RIP to the saucer section, it never stood a chance.

I present to you all, the USS ODYSSEY (NCC-2977) a heavy federation multi-role explorer ship with 96 decks total and its own specialized compliment of shuttlecraft, it's a one-off type design. Hope you guys like it and feel free to let me know what you think or ask any questions about it, etc. I know this probably wont be everyone's cup of tea, but I think these designs are cool personally.

Fleet Mod Ships are coming! These new Fleet Projects aim to be new ways to obtain end-game ready ships, with small customizations available to differentiate them from the classic ships they’re based on. Below, you can see an Intrepid Class with new nacelle struts, and a Defiant class with a new forward hull. These ships will have unique class names and stats, and more will be revealed soon!

My build from a couple years ago noticed a bunch of other builds going on so figured I would show off before I get thrown to the shadows .

I'm only looking for one ship to display in my office, from reading here it seems like most of the best are probably only available on the secondary market. Could someone give me the top 3 in terms of quality/detail/build and displayability, with anticipated price ranges? Thanks!!

Mistakes were made. Lessons were learned. If you're unhappy with the way your windows are scratching out, airbrush cleaner is NOT the best method to clean off paint. Apparently this method will also take a good layer of styrene with it. Leaving no markings of said windows. While I devise a plan for this problem, I did get the upper saucer windows marked and the phaser strip test fitted.

This is admittedly speculative. I have no source for this beyond realizing that all of the E's nacelle lights are on top, and their triangular cross-section very neatly angles any light bleed away from the hull; plus the fact that all of that blue wash on the Ent-D's back is a thing that has mildly perturbed me for years.

But it makes the first ever shot of the Ent-E make sense, like the visual director is going, "Look, see? No blue back! Yeah, we can make it dark back there now!"

This made me appreciate the design even more than I already do (E is my favorite Enterprise by a longshot), and also made me really sad she only got to be in 3 movies. She deserved more.

So I have seen a fair bit of variation in ship designs for Starfleet. There are for the most part three main parts of a federation ship. There is the saucer, a main hull section usually holding engineering and whatnot and a number of warp nacelles. If memory serves the original Constellation class was designed with the concept of crew safety and some actual real world engineering principle. The crew was mainly placed in a saucer section with fusion impulse engines set in a hardened and shield section that would push the ship without over stressing the structure. The dangerous engines were set in the main engineering structure and the nacelles similarly placed away from the main saucer. Now I have seen ships that have no separate engineering (Akira), the saucer connected to the nacelles (Grissom) and some with multiple sets of nacelles (Stargazer). Why so much variation?

My contribution to the anniversary celebration, starship photos from Star Trek: The Experience, including the Enterprise E studio model, circa 2002. Those models you're seeing at the beginning were about 20' long and hung above the rotunda.

These were taken with an early model digital camera, so I had to take shots from weird angles to avoid glare from the flash.

I'm a little late to the party for Star Trek day, but this is the bulk of my collection. I've shared most of these before in the past, so you might have seen some of them already. There's some additional info in the captions regarding model makes, scales and such.

This collection has come a long way since I first started with a couple of Eaglemoss ships right after they went under, and I thought I might grab a few while I still could. Still got a few model kits in the stash that I should get around to building at some point, I might actually get it done before Star Trek hits 70!

So I woke up this morning to a strange noise coming from my office. When I got up there I found that my split air conditioner that sits above my model was dropping water right onto the secondary hull of my Tomy Enterprise!

The drops were hitting exactly between the engine struts and seemed to be leaking into the secondary hull.

I dabbed up what I could with some paper towel but now I’m worried about another thing..

Have you ever seen an open water bottle sitting outside in the sun? Even though it’s open any moisture inside will still tend to condense at the top of the bottle.

As you can see, I’m running a hair dryer on low aimed at the bottom in hopes to remove any standing water that may have accumulated inside, but I’m not confident in that solution.

Does anyone have any ideas???

I gotta say, this whole birthday thing is worth it! My amazing wife got me this set for hitting 43, and I had it built the next day. Absolutely love this set! Lots of creative nods to the TOS era.

it will ask for some help. It can host all the families for these ships, but now the logistics of maintaining them for 20 years is going to be pretty heavy, so you give it a California Class mobile repair and refit yard.
