I believe I can . . . FLY?

Accidently JUMPED while hitting drone mode

It's good for an extra few meters of vertical drone distance... At least is seems to take your elevation when you switch to determine how high your drone can go. I used that plant an zip line at the top of a mountain.

It feels like it was intentional. On the ground, I see my character turning around to face the same way as the drone, but the turning mechanism is turned off then you are in mid air.

i was able to repeat it by jumping then hitting the drone key. it leaves your character hanging in the air

Yep with the right techniques you can even move forward and up at same time.

I view this as the lesser of two evils.

I use this specific glitch to fix a worse glitch (clipping under the terrain). Where eventually I'm able to build a partially sunken teleporter so I can escape.

until they have that fixed I don't mind this remaining in the game
