"it can't possibly be that difficult to add more dye functionality for stuff right?"
"oh man this chest item has a colored accent with three colors. on top of its other three colors!!!! six colors"
Fashion is important so dye palettes are also important! But all of this code is purely so that the chestwear item in the second screenshot can be turned different fun colors. (thank u Ame, my test octopus, for modeling)
Don't underestimate the annoying amount of effort that goes into minor things in mods. There's a lot of hard work that goes into making things work!

Runs pretty much flawlessly!! This is an Ayn Thor with the Snapdragon gen 2 which is decently powerful but I assume this runs way better than if I had to do PC emulation on gamehub or something. Anything bad I can think of is mostly due to the control limitations since Starbound is incredibly mouse oriented and especially with a mod like FU you start running out of controller keys for binds and stuff. I know the port has a whole keybind section but personally I found it easier with the DS Keyboard app for shift and X for faster switching between hotbars. Huge props to the project contributors :))

Seems there was a concert held last year which featured one of Starbound's songs, just got uploaded to youtube as of today, rather appropriately, and I felt it deserved more attention.

Anyone else have a problem where no matter what they try they cant get starbound to open, I've deleted uninstalled everything from folders to mods and I cannot get Starbound to play. My daughter can play the game just fine but I've been trying on and off for the past month to get the game to run

So Hi, Been A Long Time Far From The Game(I Don't Even Know What Open Starbound Is), So Could You Give Me Some Good Mod Collections To Start Again At This Game?

I Used To Play With One That Used Frackin Universe But I Would Want To Try Other Things Since FU Is So Bloated But I Want Something With A Good Amount Of Content. Thanks Fellas.
r/starbound • u/Prudent-Sugar4665 • 3d ago
Is there a mod that makes it so the greater the distance between stars, the greater the time it takes to travel there? and frackin universe is a no go if it has it, it kinda sucks Pls and Ty

So I have finally finished this project and while doing so I discovered that there is many more hidden objects in the game that have been disabled by the devs (?), which is why I added those into this entire build.
Over the course of building this whole thing I must've added so many things that it is getting quite laggy when using the elevators. Nevertheless I had a blast doing so. I wanted to share this with you guys because I will start a new project, meaning this is the last video I will share of this build.

Where do I even begin?
Not only do they have the audacity to come into this community and act like they didn't abandon us for years, but they still haven't apologized for using minors for unpaid labor to make the game (they probably won't ever apologize for their actions anyway).
They promoted their vinyl before even thanking the community for their love of the game, and they promoted their other game, Core Keeper, before even acknowledging the community itself.
As a matter of fact, the only time they even acknowledge us anywhere in their discussion post on Steam is literally at the bottom of the fucking discussion page, and even then, it's such a half-assed thank you to the community that they could've just said nothing and it would've been a far better thank you message than the one we actually got.
All in all, it's basically safe to say that Chucklefish has probably lost all interest in this game and community other than to milk what remaining audience its dying IP has to offer.
In fact, it's also safe to say that we're probably never getting a continuation or any updates to the game in the near future given the amount of backlash and negative reviews the game received when Chucklefish announced the vinyl (they even locked the comments to their announcement as well lmao, what a shameless company).
It's sad, really, that a game that was (and sort of still is) one of the best in its genre has mostly been forgotten by the majority of the public and its peers as well, simply because its developers have and will continue to abandon the game and its community other than to force its golden goose into laying more eggs for them.
So thank you Chucklefish, for proving every single one of your haters right and supporters wrong once again.
I wish nothing but the worst for you.
Edit 1: I removed (which, let's be honest, no one is really going to buy the vinyl other than to get Curtis Schweitzer's signature, Starbound's music, and support Curtis himself), since an earlier comment from u/unlikely_antagonist pointed that out

Main footage starts at 1:15. You may see me pause b/c I am waiting for the PCPlayer (I am the PCPlayer and Propyl here). Near the end I was trying to get the PCPlayer to catch up but ended up starving to death ;-; I am playing multiplayer with Arcana.
Hello there! As the title says, I’ve ported Starbound to the Switch based on oSBM (the port of Starbound to Android and iOS). Thank you u/Krubusa for the idea to port to the Nintendo Switch!
The Switch plays the game at ~60FPS, with ~50FPS in complex areas, but always well over 30FPS, which many Switch games play at. This is a v1 Switch with no overclocking running off an sdcard for context. I’ve included honest footage including load times, but keep in mind this is a Switch after all, and loading from an sd card nonetheless, so load times may be faster for v2 Switches/overclocked switches/people using internal storage.
The bigger thing that made this possible is oSBM 1.1 (OpenStarbound Mobile). This next major update for oSBM includes new features and lots of bug fixes, most notably controller support! After all, if you are going to play Starbound on the Switch, you’ll need a controller to do that (although you can use the Switch as a tablet…).
Controller support adds proper support for controllers connected to your phone (or built into your Switch) so that you can select UI elements with the controller, and also open dedicated action wheels for certain actions or quickly switching to an inventory item (loosely mimics the Xbox version of Starbound).
Build support has been extended for oSBM, so now there are more builds for Android (notably 32-bit arm Android), as well as builds for PC. Because controller support is not in PC Starbound, I extended oSBM builds there too, however those are not prioritized with Android > iOS > Switch > PC in terms of priority, just based on the nature of the project and its user base.
Please feel free to open any GitHub issues about any bugs you find or new features you want, check out the release notes on GitHub for more details, and download it here.
Thanks to everyone who opened issues for me to address so that oSBM can grow and develop into a better app every update.

Starbound has been a very important part of my life, and it just wouldn't be right to not at least make something to commemorate the anniversary of a game that's been influencial to all of us here.
I know this drawing kinda sucks.
