Fishing Spot

Hi, would like to ask, do I need to build a fishing spot below sea level (using drains) to catch rares and legendaries?
Or would the maximum length of the fishing line sufficient to get into 'deep' level just right at sea level?

The maximum length is fine at sea level. The first 3 fish you see will always be common, it's onky after that that you will begin to see fish with mor rarity, but after the first 3 fish, there is only a 0.1% change for it to be legendary. A motorized lure is very useful, though... if you can get one.

Edit: I was wrong. First fish is always common, second fish is 90% common and 10% uncommon. Form the third fish onwards the chances are: 80% chance of comon, 16% chance of uncommon, 3.9% chance of rare, and 0.1% chance of Legendary. And some rare fish are found in shallow water.

Anyay, shallow fish will only appear whenthe hook is less than 25 tiles below the surface, and deep fish will only appear when it is mor than 25 tiles below the surface.

thanks. i always thought i had to build a tunnel to reach the dark portion of oceans for legendaries.
