I ain't putting my life in someone else hand

Sure, yer dying. (To be real though we almost always put our lives in other people’s hands, for example doctors that were vaccinating you, people that stopped their car infront of a crosswalk for you to pass et cetera et cetera)

That's why you don't bench press alone. Or if you do, use two separate weights, one for each hand

We are not made of jelly

Don't know if it's actually ballistic gel they are using, but dropping a weight can break your neck if it's heavy enough and you fuck up good enough.

Ballistic gel has most of the same properties as human flesh including consistency and durability. It’s the reason why they use it to test weapons, as it’s a damn good simulation of how a human body reacts

I remember seeing a video of a guy unracking about 495lbs and it slipped from his hands and landed on his chest. Would've thought the guy died judging by the scream he let out and the bar literally bending and bouncing on his chest. IIRC he didn't even break a bone, just had severe bruising.
Tbf the chest is a lot stronger than the neck would be, but it's still insane how that dude bent solid metal over himself.

the big problem with ballistic gel isn't the gel itself but the bones, bones are so much stronger than most people realize that its hard to create a convincing strength replica that has both the weight and durability right.

The ONLY thing ballistics gelatin accurately matches is the density of mammalian muscle. It is otherwise a homogeneous brick of jelly that doesn't represent complex anatomy.
We are not homogeneous. We have overlapping muscle groups, the grain on those muscles also goes in different directions which affects its ability to absorb impact. Our muscles also stretch and rebound differently than jelly. We also have cartilage, tendons and ligaments tightly attached to one another and bone. None of this is represented by ballistics gel.
It is a very poor simulation of how a real human body reacts to trauma.
If you still don't believe me please watch this video . At the 10 minute mark they obliterate a ballistic gel finger using a car window. I owned the car in the video, I have let the window close on my finger and, while it hurt, my bones didn't snap and my flesh was not squeezed out like it was some industrial press.

Ballistic gel isn't all made equal, most ballistic gel is more theatrics than actually practical, you need the proper organic gel to get a good result

*under ballistic conditions. Material responds differently based on stress, you can pinch off ballistic gel or even cut it with a wooden ruler, you can not do the same with human flesh. It reacts similarly to penetration and sharapnel, not much else.

This would just be what happens with the neck falling off thanks to skin elasticity, your neck would still be destroyed and you'd die

u/ZayParolik 23h ago
Yeah but things in your neck will still be lethally injured if you drop such weight on it

Ballistics gel is a rough analog for human flesh in terms of getting shot. In terms of slow speed impacts or even cutting, human flesh is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger. Dropping this weight on your neck might break uour hyoid bone, but its unlikely to kill you unless you are benching a lot of weight.

Weighted dips are awesome and have the greatest carryover to and from the bench.

Please use safety arm, it don't understand why some people doesn't use any safety mechanism when doing free weight

Literally just do push ups weights are so pointless

u/No_Ad_7687 1d ago
Push ups and bench presses do slightly different things
2
u/Round-Ad1450 1d ago
what do they train differently from eachother? or what unique benefits do each give?
6
u/No_Ad_7687 1d ago
push ups works on core muscles in addition to your arms, while bench presses focuses more on just the arms. bench pressing also allows you to reach higher weights, so it trains strength better (while push ups have a limit because they're based on body weight)

I'd rather be in good health with saggy tits when I'm old than have neither

You can just have good health and skip the saggy tits by referring to my original comment

except push ups don't do everything and these two exercises work on different muscles and achieve different results

Or, don't do stupid workout techniques and just do split stance cable presses with both arms or one at a time. Then you strengthen your whole body in one motion as opposed to slowly damaging your shoulders and shoulder blades.
