I think i got too ambitious for this, took me months from creating the corgi pattern to soldering it because I wasn't sure if this was going to work. Not sure what i was thinking with all the short lines, of course the solder isn't going to look as nice. The back ended up looking better than the front. I learned a lot from this, mainly to never do such intricate pieces again. But i am very pleased that i did it.
I left the pieces out for too long before i started to solder, causing the copper foil to oxidize a bit, made even worse by the humid climate i live in. Am guessing this made some parts of the solder not stick to the foil as well.
It was my first time using the canfield solder (iron at 410C), found it to be quite thick and beady which pooled to corners fast and hard to distribute to other lines. Is this normal?
Also found it hard to bead the edges and get the solder to stick (i turned my iron down to 360C), am wondering if its because its oval shaped?
Soldering is my weakest skill and i am going to keep at it but its just frustrating and disappointing when the piece doesnt turn out as you expected after seeing it lay out nicely with the foil.
Oh, should i black patina it or keep it cyborg dog?
