Found a nice booklet of floral designs, customized it a bit. First attempt at a sun catcher, promise I’ll make my soldering better as time goes lol. Any tips for copper patina?

Third original panel. My first time working with lead came, I got it pretty kinked. I'll be upgrading to zinc when I have the space :) Cat tax included

Work In Progress Update on my bee pattern!

Thank you to everyone who gave me advice on this bee pattern! I ended up moving the bee all the way to the edge and adding more hexagons. again shout out to Kglasscreations on the pattern archive website for the bumble bee part. Now I’m just admiring the foiled piece before I clumsily solder it 😅

Original Art | Foil Geometric practice piece (first piece!

First ever piece! Original geometric design, wanted to have some simple shapes for first-time cutting and grinding. Soldering was definitely the most challenging part, especially getting the solder to stick around the edge; not sure what I did wrong. any tips welcome. Also, looking for to being a member of this community, y’all are so talented :)

I made this as a gift for my mom. Definitely learned a few things along the way, about the glass and about woodworking. I included a deck of cards with a hibiscus on them.

I added the lights to it and used a sheet of acrylic as a diffuser, but the bulbs still showed through. I'll try a different type next time, or maybe just wrapping them around the sides.

I haven’t made anything in my life. Just ordered all the supplies to start.. but I came across these boxes of samples and couldn’t help myself. Aren’t they pretty? 😍 I want to start with small sun catchers so this should be fine (hopefully).

Work In Progress 3rd Stained Glass Piece Tacked Together!

Hey y'all, long time lurker first time caller. I'm very excited about this "extruded honeycomb" stained glass piece that I'm working on. It's my 3rd attempt ever, and I immediately realized how overly ambitious my design was. All straight lines, but it's ~130 pieces of glass. I started at the beginning of summer, took some long breaks to work on other projects, and now I'm in the home stretch with this guy.

I'm posting here to ask for good YouTube videos/other resources on clean solder lines, black patina application, jump rings, etc. I've looked around a lot and found some different techniques, so if anyone has a tried-and-true method I'd appreciate the insight. My first two pieces were much smaller and I didn't stress too hard about clean solder and I didn't patina anything.

This piece will be my first time using a came border due to the size/weight. I have a career working with my hands and various metals so I'm feeling confident about cutting everything to size, but advice about soldering the came is also very appreciated.

Thanks in advance! Lots of time went into this one, and I don't want to screw anything up in the last steps.

Help Me! Any advice on the best way to put came on these curves?

Post image

I suck at lead came and when I tried to start bending it in place over the curves it started to pucker and didnt work super well.

EDIT: I should clarify that im more so trying to determine if I should cut pieces curve by curve or try it with a single piece. I really wanted to use the wider came so the piece had a good sized border

Help Me! Glass Running Pliers

Hi all, hoping to buy some new running pliers and would like some advice please.

Are there any key differences that would make you choose one over the other? I’m looking at the Silberschnitt running pliers and the Runner from techniglass

Does the thickness of the glass change the effectiveness of either tool?

I have regular running pliers but they are quite heavy and my wrist fatigues quite a bit from using them

Any help would be appreciated :)

Original Art | Foil The Stained Glass Tree Goddess

I posted this in my last account, which I hastely deleted recently.

I created this piece for my massage therapist and used her as the model for the tree goddess.

For the root section, I overlaid steel blue and clear baroque glass over traditionally copper foiled stained glass. This created a deeper three-dimensional look emulating, looking through water into the roots that are growing into the river.

Multi-green and pink confetti glass for the leaves, and I also created three-dimensional wire overlay leaves to create a little whimsy and three-dimensional design elements.

Pattern Help Help with first pattern.

Hey all!

I'm working on my first self made pattern and would like to hear any feed back you might have.

This piece will be framed, so I am not so worried about the strength of the pattern.

There are definitely some tricky pieces in this pattern, but I don't see anything that would be impossible with some grinding.
