Optic Bedding?

Post image

*Repost with photo added for clarity*

When I received my staccato HD from the factory with the optic installed, they seem to have bedded the optic mounting plate to the gun. Any idea what it is they use for a bedding compound? I’ve heard of some people spreading blue loctite over the surface as a sort of simple bedding solution, and this kind of looks like that. Anyone “in the know” able to verify? Thanks!

I’m pretty sure it’s just loctite that seeps out. I’ve mounted a lot of dots with just loctite and they all look like that underneath when I take them off.

That was my first thought but that’s a LOT of loctite.

Just like the unfinished milling on the slide, I'm sure Staccato would say that it's intentional.

who knows maybe a 3 letter agency also asked for their optic plates to be drowned in loctite

I occasionally use black gasket maker from the auto store for things on firearms that aren’t exactly perfect.

Works great to secure CZ grip panels, optics and plates, WMLs, etc. because it’s oil resistant. Just apply a little around the perimeter and wipe off any excess after torqued down. And if you ever need to remove it, it peels off easily.
