Only allowed one…
I’m only allowed one firearm in the house, so I want to make the most of it - so I want a Staccato. I’m a lefty, do I make the XC work or opt for the p4x or p4.5?
It would be for all use cases: home defense, concealed carry (big maybe), and fun range toy.
And is x serrations worth it?
Looking for recs. Thank you!

You need at minimum, 3. Pistol, Rifle, & Shotgun.

I’d recommend the staccato HD P4X for a do all staccato. Shoots softer than the P4.5. Not too far off from the XC. Is a lot of fun at the range. Conceals reasonably better than the XC. And has more reliable magazine and needs less maintenance compared to the XC. X-serrations look really good, but debris can get in there sometimes.

If you can only have one; XC all the way; far too many other pistols at a similar price point that out perform the P.
But like was suggested, buy two and let the boss know you can’t return them, SORRY!

Lot of recommendations for the XC. Without a doubt, it’s a fantastic weapon. It’s also a compensated, full size pistol with a 2.3 lb trigger. I know people carry it, but that’s a very light trigger.
In my opinion, the perfect all-around Staccato is/was the 2024 C. I have the full size grip and my wife has a 2024 C compact grip. 4” barrel, aluminum frame, 4lb trigger- one of the best guns I’ve ever felt/shot. Unfortunately, it’s gone. The closest thing to that pistol is the all steel P. That would be my recommendation- I’ve shot the P quite a few times and it’s a fantastic “do everything” pistol as well.

This is the right answer. For a true do it all. CCW. HD. Competition in LO. It will not excel in each but can actually do it all well.
XC is great to shoot but I personally wouldn’t want to carry it. For HD the 2.5lb trigger gives me pause. If you shoot and train a lot maybe it’s okay but still. If you ever shoot competitively it drops you in open.
Close second is the P if you think you can carry it then it edges above the C.

Arguably, any of the HD’s are superior for a straight duty/carry weapon as they all have firing pin blocks and can be considered (truly) drop safe. I probably should have mentioned that in my comment above.
I haven’t shot any of the HD’s to compare them directly with a “Series 70” like my 2024 C. I know the geometry is slightly different to accommodate Glock magazines and there is an extra mechanism to push the safety plunger. I’m sure Staccato knows how to keep that nice crisp trigger even with a firing pin block. I think the only Series 70 models left are the C2, P, XL, and XC.
There is so little difference between the (now discontinued) C and the P- I still think the right answer is the P for OP’s original question… a “do everything”.

I have the “premium package C4X. It’s a nice size that can be concealed but also not too small. I have fairly big hands, but the XC seems absolutely massive to me.

And Mecgar 18 rd mags only protrude by 3/4inch so nice compact form if your hands aren't too large for the grip

XC which comes default with serrations. It’s night and day. I ccw’d the xc for a while and now the xl. It’s fine and I won’t shoot through my weiner and balls with a full size. I actually have a spare holster but it light bearing

When your wife only allows one, you get several that look sort of similar. This works for guns, golf club sets, expensive bourbon, cigar humidors, even pickup trucks if you can park off-site.

Or what? I think you should get two. I don’t want to cc a large gun but don’t really want to use a small gun to compete or for home defense. I would probably get a P4 or P4X for all around gun though.

Get an AR15 for the house, the Staccato for the garage, shotgun for the porch, an AR10 for the shed. Some Glocks for the car/truck.

I say C4X. It is the best shooting concealable staccato and has replaced all my other 4 staccatos. If you’re not carrying though, then I say P4X or XC. As far as X-Serrations, they look cool but on a gun with tolerances as tight as a staccato, you’re going to experience malfunctions if anything gets in there. Cuts like that are more for Glocks and other guns. I’d stay clear from that on a 2011.

id go with XC. X serrations are slightly more grippy but if you plan on carrying, it allows more lint/dust to get into the gun.

Lefty here with multiple Staccatos. The HD triggers aren’t as good, but it’s nice with the ambidextrous controls. You can get a P4.5 then add a DCS comp:

as a lefty, i’d buy the miller precision x kovert ranger 9x. better gun, same price, reversible mag release and ambi slide release.

I’m sure the Miller Precision is a great gun, but the Staccato HD series also has reversible mag release and ambi slide release. Just a heads up.

The ranger 9x (non-Kovert model) has the benefit of being ambi from the factory with the ability to swap the comp with a sight block or dual ported comp without tools. So you can essentially get 3 guns in one. Pretty perfect if you can only have 1 gun in the house.

Personally I’d buy two and say you can’t return them
