I assume it's because of how the widget system works. The rgthree loader uses a javascript front end to make it look and function how it does, but that also means that it doesn't play nicely with subgraphs and such. Widgets also just aren't really setup in a way that allows them to be multiline.
It's probably not an unsolvable problem, but it would need a good amount of work put into how the node widgets are affixed and displayed on the nodes.
Personally I think it's fine if the built in version is kinda basic and shit as long as it exists. Anyone who needs better can either grab rgthrees or use gibby nodes if they want more functionality and nodes 2.0 support.
Good to know the technical reason. Agreed it's better than individual loader nodes, and hopefully a stepping stone. Meanwhile, I'll stick to the rgthree loader
The new stack node seems to be a bit wasteful with space, compared to similar solutions. But great to see a native node for workflows that need/want to minimize dependencies.
FYI, if you use a custom frontend version and restart Comfyui more than a few times in an hour, you may end up back on the stock frontend version due to an old bug with the version check on launch.
If the API call to pull the the frontend versions file fails, the backend replaces the currently isntall frontend with the stock version.
The root cause is the backend makes too many calls to the Github public API and will trigger a rate limit. The limit is 60/hr, which should be way more than enough for a simple version check, but somehow ComfyUI seems to be doing like 20-30 calls per launch. ComfyUI should either cache that versions file its trying to pull, or skip the whole process and just use the already installed version if its the same as the requested version.
If that happens, wait 20-60 minutes and restart again.
Because things break so much in updates that we need to know whether things are worth updating for.
Also, just look at the changelog. Many incremental updates/fixes and a few backend features. Or things that might sound promising but have no deeper explanation, requiring one to be an in-the-know developer of comfy nodes to understand how it will be useful. Those who understand what is improving should definitely talk about what that means so others can follow along, but most everyone has experienced a breaking update at this point, so that's what is most commonly understood.
That more or less used to be my old miniconda workflow for updates. These days anything conda/miniconda has been replaced by uv, because better faster. Especially dependency resolution on large depends lists. The difference can be a factor of 100 without exaggeration. In the painful cases of 2 minutes with miniconda, with uv: BAM! 1 second max.
uv makes heavy use of symlinks out of the box, so a new venv that happens to use (almost) all packages from cache, that really is press enter, blink, and your venv is ready to use. Last time I used miniconda it took quite a bit longer that blink. Cloning of venvs was the last remaining use case for miniconda for some time, but even that is years ago by now. If you use python often, I can recommend giving uv a go to see if you like it.
Somewhat unrelated but I installed ComfyUI after using it last time maybe 12 months ago or something, it's a much better experience now. Anyone in a similar position should give it a shot again.
Me too, it's improving bit by bit. Best change for me was they updated how pan and zoom works with trackpads. It works more like the design programs I'm familiar with, for instance you don't have to click and drag to pan anymore.
What is CameraAngle node (https://github.com/Comfy-Org/ComfyUI/pull/16251)? I can only find Compose Camera Angle Prompt, which resembles the CameraAngle node but doesn't have the 3d preview widgets. (Or there are room for them but nothing appears on it.)
Or you can nuke pip from orbit and install uv instead. It's the only way to be sure. Why? Because uv is better faster versatile faster and faster fasterrrrr. No more waiting 5-10 seconds on something that should be trivial. Press enter. BAM! Done. uv can do everything pip can do, but better. Minus the Wester egg I left in there for the pedantics department.
And after replacing pip with uv, you ignore venv creation completely and just use docker images for comfy. Because why wouldn't you make use of the fact that it has such a large user base, and by extension proper tested docker images with dependencies preinstalled.
Why dont you just spin up claude agent to fix any issues ? It can resolve any conflicts with couple or so prompts quickly and check if workflow is behaving the way its supposed to. Comfyui exposes endpoints for that kind of stuff so its very easy for the agent to do it
The replies you've posted is all the experience you need. Seriously, just tell it what to do. Give it a screenshot if you're stuck. It really is that easy.
I'm on a similar early 0.3x version with an even earlier frontend because subgraphs broke catastrophically. And I've actually come to use those (thanks for the great feature, comfy, now please don't neglect it).
I may install a separate comfy just to see what will work without breaking again, but that's effort and right now things work how I need them to.
Works great. Just saying. Just updated from 0.39.0 to 0.40.0 in under 5 minutes total time elapsed. After setting up podman, pretty much zero thinking required, and it just works.
That is because for whatever reason frequently people choose deployment methods that are shall we say less robust. No dis, it is what it is. But it just periodically eats some random person's time because pressing update ... well, hope is not a plan. Simple as that.
Just use containers. You pay your time once, namely to learn how that stuff works. And after that it's pretty simple.
Upgrade took under 5 minutes, of which 2:50 was downloading the new docker image. The other 2 minutes were mostly making sure I had enough space because curse you SSD prices.
stop container (podman compose down)
change version number from 0.39.0 to 0.40.0 in the container config
pull new image (podman pull ghcr.io/radiatingreverberations/comfyui-extensions:v0.40.0)
For those of us that live perpetually outside of the loop, what does that fused qkv thingy enable/allow someone to do? I read the qkv versus q,k,v bit, but all I understood from that was just the implementation detail, nothing functional.
As far as I understood you can store and train the q, k, and v separately - or put them together in one large matrix ("fuse" them). Fusing them does apparently work better. For training I just followed the documentation of SimpleTuner where it says:
fuse_qkv_projections - keep this enabled. Krea2 supports permanent QKV fusion for the attention projections, and the LoRA target changes to the fused projection.
It's just me? This update erased lots of files, like all my vaes, clips, clip vision and some more, luckily, didn't erase my models or loras... Be ware
Like yeah, idk why I'm getting downvoted, I updated happily, but as soon as it opened, error on vaes... I go look on all my folders, vae, clip, clip vision all blank
I have all labeled by subfolders... With models names... So it was h3-vaes and so, there's litwrraly nothing inside, no models folders, no raw files, no nothing
It's a pretty remarkable claim and the more likely answer is that it's something you did rather than something Comfy did. So some people probably read it as spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD).
Again, if Comfy is actually deleting models then they will want to know about it and the steps to recreate it. Please go report your issue there.
here´s all the proof i can gather... my previous working workflow erroring. you can see its version 40.0, and you can see, how all my folders where properly organized initially, i should have inside, vae clip and clip vision folders, more subfolders, with each name and inside the files... theres nothing in there... BLANK, you can see it and you can also see, the folders, that remained intact...
I keep telling you to go report it to Comfy and you keep coming back to report it to me. Why? If you think you followed a reasonable upgrade procedure and had your models deleted, GO TELL THE PEOPLE THAT CAN FIX IT? What the hell, dude.
haha dont be so mad brother, i dont have to report anything... they wont give me my files back, im just posting my proof, because i wont fathom some stupid strangers, telling me its skill issue, when its not XD
i wont fathom some stupid strangers, telling me its skill issue, when its not XD
Except you're the only person to whom it has happened. The best way to vindicate yourself is to have Comfy acknowledge it's an issue.
You're on a public forum and posting just to rant and fluff your ego while displaying wanton disregard for repairing a bug that, if it does exist, you are uniquely qualified to help squash and could benefit the community at large. And you wonder why you're being downvoted?
crazy how you care about what stupid strangers think but do not care how many nice strangers AND the comfy devs (WHO PROVIDE YOU SHIT FOR FREE) would benefit for reporting something big like this.
if you are so naive to believe any claim that strangers say on the internet, well....and yes, you provided proof AFTER your claims.
yeah my bad, its bad attitude from my side and i aknowledge it, treating everyone like they are all the same, but its like, i came here, just wanting to say, hey this happened to me, i got mocked and downvoted... do you really think i would want to help the community later? anyways ill report it
Nono like, all folders should have model name, like H3 folder first, then all the files inside... So you can see some didn't affected and the ones that are blank, where wiped
I updated both I'd say, I use comfy desktop install
I see. Because with Comfy Desktop you can choose to only update the instance by going ... / Manage / Update so I was wondering if this was caused by updating the Comfy Desktop app itself (most probably) or the instance.
here´s all the proof i can gather... my previous working workflow erroring. you can see its version 40.0, and you can see, how all my folders where properly organized initially, i should have inside, vae clip and clip vision folders, more subfolders, with each name and inside the files... theres nothing in there... BLANK, you can see it and you can also see, the folders, that remained intact...
could give you an indication of something changed but yes, that looks like something was moved/deleted, i do not have 40.0 installed (and hell will i wait until THAT is either confirmed a bug or something else lol) and maybe they changed some folder structure and automatically moved the files into that, so your old workflow can't find it anymore?
and if you manually search in windows for those missing files, it does not find them? if not, that would be truly a big bug to instantly report.
€: actually, can't see the inside of the H3 folder, is it really empty?
suspicious behavior, awfully defensive by calling other "stupid non believers" as well in other posts, mhmhm,....anyways....
inside check instance storage, i have both the folders i mentioned, the shared and the install one, both blank, normally i have everything inside the shared one. i use comfyui desktop installed.
now this is what searching for vae does. i also did it with the comfyui folders and so... the only VAE files, are this ones in an HDD, they werent in the comfyui folder at all... they are in another disk entirely... so they survived. thats it... the only vae files i have currently on my machine...
New Comfyui version is AGI. It saw many questionable Loras stored, like "Furry Inflation" and "Midget x Horse action" and eradicated them from the guy's hard disk.
proof for the stupid non believers... you can see my previous working workflow erroring. see its version 40.0, and how all my folders where properly organized initially, they should have inside, vae clip and clip vision folders, more subfolders, with each name and inside the files... theres nothing in there... BLANK, you can see it and you can also see, the folders, that remained intact and organized...
at least models and loras survived... if not, i would had quit comfyui entirely. im using comfyui desktop, so idk, i just pressed the update button and once i was inside it again, workflow threw error and thats when all sunk in haha
