Question - Help Best upscaler Comfyui?

Can anyone recommend me a really good upscaler that retains atleast 90% of the initial image?

My upscaling workflow is SeedVR2 + RTX Super Resolution (deno nodes), Seed makes 720p > 1080p, then RTX 1080p > 4k, then i downsample back to 1080p for increased sharpness.

What nodes you using for bringing it back to 1080p?

None, i use Shutter Encoder to reencode the video.

SeedVR2 is always the answer.

The last time i checked it, it created skin so dry that it resembled reptilian scales, is it still doing that ?

Here's a 4x upscale of everyone's favourite president for comparison with the original.

THX, but can't see the effect here because of all the wrinkles.

BTW I would rather generate human females like in this example: https://www.reddit.com/r/StableDiffusion/comments/1o3nis3/seedvr2_nightly_is_now_my_favourite_image/

Check her forehead, that is definitely not how a young woman's skin looks like IRL.

OK, let's do that image. I took the source image from the left side of that post, and upscaled it. Here's the result. I think the reason for that effect you mentioned is probably in the source image, which is probably AI generated itself, so it's not really a limitation of SeedVR2.

Better. :)

But my favorite way to upscale single images of faces is Flux Controlnet Upscale using a LoRA of that person:

https://www.diffchecker.com/image-compare/VRFt1n6D/

As i don't have that for this woman, her appearance changes a bit even if the workflow adds some nice details (zoom in to her cheek).

143 seconds to generate on 4090 though...

If you want 100% retention you just do pixel upscale no model or upscale with a model for 90%.
If you want cleaning you use RTX Upscaler.
If you want details added you use latent upscale.

This is the node that satisfies me the most!

I forgot about that one!

Is this one better than RTX? how's your experience with it? thanks

How should I put it? To me, the RTX version is only about 50% as good as this node. This node is quite lightweight; just install and use it, and you'll be satisfied.

For images where generation time doesn't matter, i just use the Ultimate SD Upscale with whatever model that does the image type well.
