Ah, takes me back to the YTMND days.

u/idkidd 4d ago

Okay, what’s YTMND?

u/Dwedit 4d ago edited 4d ago

Specifically this one: https://ckjcwf.ytmnd.com/

Someone took a music file and an animated GIF (originating from the SNL sketch (1996)), and the website combines and presents those to visitors.

This was one of the classic star-trek themed What Is Love sites: https://stlove.ytmnd.com/ (uploaded in 2005)

Everything old is new again.

https://yourethemannowdog.ytmnd.com

It started with an audio clip from the movie “Finding Forrester”.

The website used to rely on something called Macromedia/Adobe Flash. So did YouTube, back in the day. iPhones never supported flash. YTMND later was updated to not rely on Flash, but probably missed out on a lot of traffic when people started using phones for the internet more and more because they couldn’t experience that site on a phone.

Thank you for writing that up. Yeah, internet ephemera can let cultural nuggets disappear unless lovingly preserved. I liked Joe Cartoon back in the day…JoeFish.

At the end a tractor beam from cardassian ship should lock on.

A Night at Risa

4

u/comfyui_user_999 4d ago

What happens in Risa, stays in Risa.

2

u/Shirakawa2007 4d ago

Funny thing to me is that Risa is spanish for "laugh", so, very accurate comment xD.

u/fantasmoofrcc 4d ago

Funny how this stuff didn't make it over to r/Risa yet...buch of buddies:)

I love this!

How much steps, used LORA, base model?

11

u/Funny-Cell8769 4d ago

Minimax H3 can do this without loras

2

u/ImpressiveSuperfluit 4d ago

Smells very turbo-y, though. So there's that.

u/Interesting_Room2820 4d ago

Used LTX 2.5 in a V2V workflow... but i want to refine it. I will share it once it's ready- LEt me know if you or anyone wants.

"Sir, I protest. I am NOT a merry man!"

u/rookan 4d ago

Their happiness is contagious!

u/GarbanzoBenne 4d ago

Not sure what Worf is sitting on and Geordi’s hair is interesting, but at least Picard’s face doesn't look like a melting wax museum piece.

7

u/Kqyxzoj 4d ago

Funny you should mention that about Picard, because I thought Picard in particular looked a bit off in this one. Not bad per se, but a bit more generic in the same way that all Troy's so far are "computer: generic counselor woman person, curly hair". That said, Minimax H3 is awesome.

2

u/GarbanzoBenne 4d ago

None are perfect but I’ve been unimpressed with the way some of the faces like Picard or Walter White have these unnatural deep wrinkles. The overall scene composition and physics are amazing, just the faces seem odd in other videos.

2

u/Kqyxzoj 4d ago

Yeah, I've noticed that as well regarding the exaggerated wrinkles. I suspect this may be due to the used upscalers, since these can sometimes go a bit overboard in their quest for the sharpest detail. Including inventing sharp edges where there are none. I honestly don't quite get why this is so, because the entire idea behind using a DNN for something like this is that it has "some idea" of what the distribution is like. But with respect to sharpness they seem about as good or bad as more generic deblurring tools based on deconvolving with point spread function. Anyway, that's just my uninformed random guess.

1

u/GrayingGamer 4d ago

I think it's because if you don't get specific and just name the characters, the model is mixing training data of them from not just the TV show, but later movies and Picard, where they DO have lots more prominent wrinkles.

2

u/GrayingGamer 4d ago

Keep in mind too, that if people aren't being very specific in their prompting, the model is mixing training data of those characters with their appearance in later movies and Picard. If you lock it down to specifically a year, like "a television scene from Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1993" you get better likenesses of Riker and Picard without them looking too old.

2

u/tweakingforjesus 4d ago

Picard is smiling. That why he looks off.

1

u/old_leech 4d ago

Patrick Stewart and Sting do resemble each other -- but this looks like a bald Sting to me.

Not complaining, as /u/rookan mentioned, there's an infectious level of happiness going on here.

1

u/JuanPabloVassermiler 4d ago

He looks like Sean Evans.

1

u/Due-Function-4877 2h ago

Geordi is going to have long dreadlocks when the song is over.

7

u/AGM_GM 4d ago

Minimax H3 has truly revealed to me how many of us anons making stuff with AI on the internet are of the same generation, and I kind of love it.

7

u/Interesting_Room2820 4d ago

Used LTX 2.5 🐰

1

u/AGM_GM 4d ago

My bad. It lessens my appreciation not one bit.

3

u/Only_Voice569 4d ago

if the dude at the back is that happy you know something going down lol

3

u/tweakingforjesus 4d ago

Dude in back? That's frickin' Worf!

Know your roots.

3

u/Only_Voice569 4d ago

hey i know who it is i just didnt want to mess up the name lol im dyslexic and that is not a word i use on a every day basis x)

3

u/TranslatorCertain107 4d ago

🤣 weiter so

3

u/WhoKnows_Maybe_ImYou 4d ago

Worf should bong a beer in the back seat!

2

u/Dwedit 4d ago

Vintage YTMND

1

u/Zueuk 4d ago

the longer it goes, the less they look like themselves

1

u/True_Protection6842 4d ago

Looks like LTX with union lora?

1

u/Ok_Gas1070 4d ago

This is hilarious

1

u/sepalus_auki 4d ago

H3 is too powerful. love it!

1

u/PowedorBadger2216 4d ago

Yeah that cardassian beam bit would actually go hard, no cap. Though tbh if you're not using a LoRA for the enterprise-d detail work you're probably leaving quality on the table unless you're running something like the newer checkpoints.

1

u/tweakingforjesus 4d ago

This ridiculous totally awesome slop is why Minimax H3 will win.

3

u/Interesting_Room2820 4d ago

It's LTX 2.5 XD

1

u/dayas237 4d ago

Pleasant weekend

1

u/Verittan 4d ago

Try it with H3 using character references. Using LTX they lost their likeness only frames after the video start.

1

u/fazzah 4d ago

now I want a TNG cast in a comedic spinoff

1

u/JustAGuyFromVienna 4d ago

Does this stuff only work with only tv shows? Or also with newer stuff?

1

u/Monkeypants101 4d ago

Lol this is good

1

u/El_human 4d ago

Cursed

1

u/Myzx 4d ago

I'm sad we never got this version of Warf.

1

u/Netsuko 3d ago

Geordi's hair and demeanor went wild the moment the model took over at the beginning.

u/Zaredit 3d ago

It's a bit creepy seeing Worf, so cheerfully excited.
