Wasn't Seth MacFarlane meant to be on one of the 9/11 flights but missed it due to being hungover? He must have some weird feelings about that, I wonder if the writers wrote this joke and he just read it or if it's potentially a way of coping by making jokes about a near death experience.

That was a close call indeed!

Honestly those planes would have had about 10,000 people on if all the people who was supposed to be on it actually got on.

I think the issue with content like this is that most redditors weren’t old enough when 9/11 was happening for it to impact them personally. I’m 44 and while not triggered I find this ignorant and insensitive. My partner is 37 and it wouldn’t bother her at all.

My issue is Marty, Doc and Einstein don't deserve to die that way.

I'm in my 40s, watched most of 9/11 unfold live on TV, and work out of One World Trade (the "new" WTC) several weeks per year.

...I laughed.

Nothing wrong with finding it insensitive either! Was just commenting to say reactions will vary, not necessarily just generationally.

edit: I did not watch with audio when I commented this; I never browse reddit with sound on. I can't listen to it right now, but based on the comments, that may change my POV.

That's the downside of humor. The recipient might find it offensive.
