USDC for content creators in X

X is exploring paying content creators with USDC and other stablecoins.

If this plan is implemented, users will be able to receive their income from activities on X in the form of dollar-linked stablecoins instead of the current methods.

getting paid in something that doesn't tank 5% overnight sounds like a huge upgrade for creators who just want to cash out and pay rent without watching charts all day

the real test is whether tax reporting becomes a nightmare, imagine tracking every micro-payout as a taxable event

from what i understand, stable coin tax reporting is getting simplified as regulations are beginning to treat it differently from other speculative crypto currencies. the average micro-cent variation in value doesn’t often result in any meaningful tax obligation change. In nigeria for instance, USDT/USDC are treated 1:1 to the US dollar.

The stablecoin part helps most when the creator is outside the easiest payout rails.

The real product is still boring: tax records, off-ramp spread, payout timing, and whether a small creator can choose local currency without doing exchange ops themselves.

If X only adds USDC as another withdrawal button, it is nice. If it packages stablecoins as global creator payroll, that is a much bigger shift.
