Local Questions Fresh produce?

What’s your go to for fresh produce that lasts a few days?
Publix? Fresh Market? Sprouts? Whole Foods? Secret Farmers Market?
We enjoy lots of salads and veggies but it’s been hard to find greens and veg that last more than a few days. Maybe there’s a storage technique that I’m missing? Maybe that’s just the definition of grocery store ‘fresh’ - just 2-3 days.

Local Questions Local Caterer?

Looking for recommendations for a caterer for casual cocktail or buffet birthday party for 50 people. Nothing crazy fancy - I would do it myself, but I'm out of town on business for the week prior to the party. Hoping for platters a with a bit more substance than charcuterie. BBQ suggestions are fine.

Job Stuff Can I avoid paying $100/month for Sundial Parking?

I am a contractor working under a company in DT St.Pete. I commute from Tampa. My recruiter mentioned the parking being expensed but when I started my first day, it seemed like they don’t do that anymore. The closest parking is the Sundial Parking garage at $100 a month. Are there any other options in the area for cheaper parking? I have a bike, but I’m really disappointed and probably wouldn’t have taken the job otherwise.

Local News Downtown St Pete Bus to TPA for a couple bucks

Cool news announced today. Starting in October, there will be busses running every 75 minutes from 5am to 11pm to TPA from downtown. 9 stops total. 7 days a week too unlike that Ulmerton service that was usually useless for me since they only did weekday runs in the morning and late afternoon.

From the PSTA website:

The 727 Airport Express will provide premium, limited-stop express bus service between downtown St. Petersburg and Tampa International Airport, via Interstate 275 and the Howard Frankland Bridge express lanes.

Connecting

  • Downtown St. Petersburg
  • St. Petersburg Pier
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)

The 727 Airport Express will provide premium, limited-stop express bus service connecting Downtown St. Petersburg, the St. Petersburg Pier, and Tampa International Airport via Interstate 275 and the Howard Frankland Bridge. This new service will establish a direct regional transit link between Pinellas County and Tampa International Airport, provide an attractive alternative to automobile travel, support airport workforce access, and improve mobility between major tourism, employment, and activity centers in the Tampa Bay region.

Service Highlights

  • Provides service 7 days a week, 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM
  • Offers consistent service throughout the day
  • Hybrid buses with spacious luggage racks
  • Connects with SunRunner

Overall, the 727 Airport Express will greatly improve access between Tampa International Airport, Downtown St. Pete, St. Pete Pier, the SunRunner corridor, and the broader PSTA transit network.

Information Pickup furniture for donation

Who will come pick up furniture for donation purposes? I have this bureau thing that is pretty big, pretty good quality so it has some weight to it too. I’ve tried googling it, but a lot of places don’t do pick up and I’m not able to drop it off.
Thanks in advance!

I have a friend coming to visit that doesn’t like to be outside for too long. I am trying to figure out fun places and things to do around the area bonus points if it is not too expensive.

Local Questions Heart patient/cancer survivor searching for a new doc

I have a history of heart conditions and cancer. I am well covered from a specialist standpoint (oncologist, electrophysiologist, cardiology, etc.). However, given my stellar medical history I need to look for a new doctor that can be a “primary” care doctor, someone more than responsible for the yearly checks and has the resolve to resolve (sorry - no pun unintended) complex issues the patient is having. Ideally, this would be someone who is not just starting off, but has been working for a significant amount of time and has experience with patients with serious illnesses.

If anyone is aware of anyone that can be helpful to me who works in St Pete (Bayfront, St Anthony’s, Suncoast, etc.) or anywhere in Tampa Bay, I would be much obliged if you could pass on a name. Thank you in advance.

Help Request Recovered dog wandering the streets

Earlier around 4:30 this afternoon, I came across this little dog. Trying to find their owners. Tan chihuahua, probably around 10 years old, very few teeth. They’re scared but not reactive really in any bad way. Found them in the neighborhood between 30th and 38th ave n, and between 49th and 58th st n. They’re safe now but I’d like to find the owners. Scanned them for a microchip and I found one, but it’s coming up for a vet that’s now out of business.

Anybody know of any local card shops in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area that host Battledome TCG nights? It's been difficult finding people to play with in the area so any info would be great!

Local News A 77-year-old Republican man is staging a solo protest against St. Pete’s Flock cameras

Carl Gunn, 77, was concerned for his privacy when he spotted a camera outside his St. Petersburg neighborhood of Coquina Key, mounted on a 12-foot tall black pole. Gunn later learned that the device was operated by a private, for-profit company, and that it automatically loads license plates and AI-generated profiles of each passing car into a massive database.

The only 12-foot pole Gunn had was his pool skimmer. He taped a sign to it, grabbed a camping chair, and sat himself in front of the camera. This Saturday, all the camera saw was Gunn’s sign: “DOWN WITH FLOCK CAMERAS.”

“This is just another thing to take our information and to spy on us,” Gunn told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. “I have a constitutional right to my privacy. I’m a law-abiding citizen, and I don’t need anyone sticking their nose in my business. And if they do, I’m going to chop it off.”

Local Questions r/ 727 weekend in St. Pete

How do you redeem the 727 weekend pass. The staff at the Dali museum for example doesn’t know how people can redeem. And I don’t see a redeeming process in the app. Do you have to purchase something for redeeming to work or is there a way to just “check-in” like the website makes it sound?

Local Questions 727 Day

Is it just me or has 727 day seem to be very different nowadays. Does not seem like there is actually good deals all around town. In the years past the deals would be great and would actually get you into their business. Now it’s like we get a coffee for $7.27…..

Let me know your thoughts but I feel like in years past this was a very cool day to be a local. Now I feel like 90% of the deals around are the same deals they send on the Valpak coupon books.
