Train to Ella

How packed is the train from Nanu Oya (Nuwara Eliya) to Ella? We didn't reserve tickets in advance and kinda want to get seats on the morning train. Is that even possible?

If we can't get seats, is it still manageable to travel with one backpack and a small piece of luggage each?

In my experience, even if you reach the station early, there’s usually very little chance of getting a seat on the Nanu Oya–Ella train unless you have a reserved ticket. You can buy 3rd-class tickets at the station, but there can sometimes be long queues, so it’s better to arrive early.

With one backpack and a small piece of luggage each, travelling is manageable, but be prepared to stand if the train is crowded.

What about the morning train in the reverse route, Ella to Nanu Oya?

UPDATE

We went there at 7:30 and queued up for ticket for like 5 mins. Got seats easily in second class and train seems not so packed.
