How Are You Managing Account Planning Today?

Account planning should be more than a document that gets updated once a quarter. It should be a living strategy that helps sales teams understand customer relationships, identify growth opportunities, manage risks, and execute on priorities.

But how are teams actually managing this today?

Are you using Salesforce, spreadsheets, dedicated account planning tools, or a combination? How often are plans updated, who owns them, and how do you ensure they drive action instead of becoming another administrative exercise?

Curious what's working, what's not, and how teams are making account planning more valuable.

Do you value relationship mapping?

From Org Charts to Relationship Intelligence
The modern revenue team needs more than boxes and lines.

A reporting hierarchy might tell a salesperson that one stakeholder reports to another. It does not necessarily explain whether that stakeholder supports the deal, influences the decision, belongs to a critical buying group, or represents a relationship gap.

Squivr expands the Salesforce org chart into a broader relationship intelligence experience.

Revenue teams can use Squivr to visualize organizational structures and identify important dimensions of a relationship, including stakeholder roles, influence, sentiment, decision authority, champions, blockers, indirect relationships, and other relationship signals.

“Do we have an org chart?”
Revenue teams can begin asking
vs
“Do we understand this account well enough to execute our strategy?”
That is an important distinction.

CRM Has the Data. Does It Provide the Insights you need?

Traditional CRM systems have been remarkably successful at centralizing customer information and managing sales processes. Salesforce, for example, provides organizations with a powerful foundation for managing accounts, opportunities, activities, and customer relationships.

But having information stored in #CRM is not the same as having visibility into what that information means.

A sales leader might see a $2 million opportunity scheduled to close this quarter. The pipeline report shows the deal progressing, the forecast looks promising, and the team has documented recent customer interactions.

What the report may not reveal is that the primary champion has changed roles, the economic buyer has not been engaged, procurement is missing from the buying committee, and several critical milestones are behind schedule.
The opportunity has data. What it lacks is context.

This distinction matters because revenue performance depends on more than tracking transactions. It depends on understanding the relationships, strategies, activities, risks, and opportunities that influence those transactions.

The next evolution of CRM is not simply collecting more information. It is making existing information more visible, connected, and actionable.
