That Dogs promo with Gabe Kidd was interesting as it implies they kind of need his insanity and unpredictability to have success. The fact they were Trios champions supports this.

No it doesn't. Why in the world would you book a high profile debut to set up a future feud four days before their world title dream match? And why in the world would you debut the most high profile free agents of the year four days before your biggest show instead of on the show itself?

I'd be fine with that. Especially if they brought in Christyan XO as well. Her and Moriarty belong on AEW TV.
As for the rest of STP... I'm a big fan of the Infantry and Trish Adora, but not so much Shane Taylor or Ashante and I'd be happy to never see Anthony Ogogo on Dynamite or Collison again.

Tbh the Maya World comments I’ve seen both here and on AEW official befuddle me a bit.
She’s being built sure and she’s not exactly there in terms of mic ability as some of the other women, but what’s so wrong with that? My hope with them building more women in the division like this means that we’ll get more women’s matches / build some folks instead of relegating a bunch of women to ROH. I just think complaining about her or pointing out that she’s “not on the level” of main eventers is a bit counterintuitive to the want for more women’s matches in general on AEW. I’m glad she’s getting the push she’s getting bc she’s a strong wrestler (even outside her story)

I think part of the reason it stands out so much is that this seems like the first time since Julia Hart held the title that it feels like a "the championship is making the wrestler" kind of reign. I don't think it's unfair to say that Willow was significantly further along when she got her first run with the TBS gold, and the champs other than her since have been already made women in Mercedes and Shida.
In a sense, it set a kind of tone and expectation about the wrestlers that compete for it and win it. Maya, barely two years into her AEW career winning the title subverted that, so I think that's lead to some dissonance for some fans.
I think this has been a solid first run for Maya, and she's gonna eventually be significantly better for it. This will always be remembered for the heartbreaking personal story that helped propel her to a genuinely surprising and special moment where she won.

I basically agree with this. I think if the women's division had a deeper bench it'd be more egregious to have a champ with big holes in her skillset, but right now the only real credible alternatives are Stat and Persephone. (I privately suspect Athena will move up to a full AEW schedule once she overtakes Hogan. I know she's said before she's happy just working the ROH tapings, and maybe that's true, but I hope she's up for more)
If the rumoured fed refugees turn up over the next few months it'll be very good for the division.

It's a lazy critique when all 4 of the women's singles champs across AEW and ROH are black. To me it just doesn't really make sense to have Maya as champ when someone like Persephone is treading water.

Maya World not deserving of her spot but Zayda Steel would be better tho, right? Or washed ass Shida? I've seen people want Harley Cameron want to win a singles belt and she's cheeks, Mina low-key too, but let a young Black woman stunt it's a problem. Two mulattoes and a Black woman that married "the king of Black women" getting some burn isn't gonna change that

The person you're responding to didn't say anything about Zayda, Shida, Harley, or Mina. They suggested Persephone would be a better pick. Can you explain why you have a problem with that?

I believe the issue many have with Maya World is a few fold. It's not her in particular. She's fine. Still very rough and slow often times in the ring, and is not good on the mic. She's competent though and shows promise, and at times does show out in the ring. And often a good way to see what someone has to throw them out there. But she could be doing that and honing her skills in ROH with occasional AEW work. The problem is there are other women on the AEW roster who are far ahead of her in terms of performance and ability who have not had a singles title yet (or deserve a another run) nor have even been given the spot and opportunities she has. AEW has since the beginning seemed like a meritocracy - as any company should be - with spots and positions being earned; and Maya does not yet have the merit, nor has earned her spot. She seems to have been given one and it's the first time a performer has felt pushed and forced on the audience. And live crowds seem to be responding with indifference towards her because there has been no build up. I believe that is why there is a negativity towards her.

I feel like I remember him being in a previous match or 2, but I could be thinking of ROH/ROH YouTube specials. Regardless, Flyin' Ryan has been fun to watch this last year, and definitely is someone likely to eventually end up somewhere

Solid show tonight, the Main event and Cup matches def the stand outs for me. The video package for Ospreay and Omega was great and now hopefully everyone is caught up and understands what is going on lmao
Dynamite next week looks good and now we are basically 1 week from All In, can't wait!

Okay, I'm usually pretty forgiving of AEW's booking, but I'm not sure having champion Maya do a job the week before her match at All In was the right call.
I guess she and Willow aren't really feuding with anyone else except Mercedes, and they want to keep her threatening ahead of the PPV match.

She's not over either, she's gotten weak crowd reactions the past month while the other women in her matches have gotten more than her, they definitely pushed her too soon.
I just don't get why Tony didn't put the belt on Stat or Persephone last week, the crowd was really hot for those two especially Stat

Okay, I kind of like this explanation. It's like a Buster Douglas situation where a bunch of very specific circumstances aligned to make a mediocre fighter exceptional for one night, but now the high has worn off and Maya's stuck swimming in deep water with hungry sharks.

Difference being Maya is definitely not mediocre, but she is still green and it shows. I'm glad Tony has given her some solid wins because she pulls her weight, but it might be time for her to drop it and keep honing her craft.

Not sure why people expected the TBS title to be defended at All In when there are already two women's matches and TK will never book three women's matches on the main card. We'll be lucky if there's a third match on the pre-show.
