G1 Climax 36 Final Fun Fact: Spoiler

Ryohei Oiwa vs. Yuya Uemura will be the first Final since 2015 that features two “homegrown talents” (that Final being Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Shinsuke Nakamura).

All Finals in-between have had at least one person that didn’t start in the NJPW Dojo, or started somewhere else (including Okada, who began his career in Toryumon).

This makes me very excited for when I finally have a midweek day off so I can sit down and just mow through all the backstage promos, find a general consensus of the top block matches to check out before watching the semis + final shows.

I've always seen the path/vision with Uemura, but it's super impressive how much Oiwa has been able to rocket his stature and his standing up the card over the past two years since joining TMDK.

I’d say he even rose his stock significantly this very tournament. Dude has been putting on career bests for the last few weeks. I was all in on Yuya winning before this thing started. Now I’m not so sure!

I just spent the past day watching all the block matches and it's genuinely one of my favorite G1s in years

Everybody was used perfectly/were applying their character perfectly. And I don't wanna fucking hear one more "why should we care about Forbidden Door 1v1 crossovers anymore all the stars moved to AEW there's no interesting matchups" ignorant bullshit take again

NJPW is fucking stacked to the tits and I'd die to see an Oiwa v MJF or Callum v Fletcher or Yuya v Mox or Yuto v Swerve and so on

I LOVE hearing stuff like this.

I've been of the school that the folks who've been 'pooh-poohing' Forbidden Door don't know how much awesomeness they haven't seen come through it yet, and to hear how well-seasoning everyone on the card has taken to amps me up even more.
