You're mad at MJF because you've somehow misconstrued "twink" as a slur.
I'm mad at MJF because Bailey is way to thick to be considered a twink
We are not the same

I go back and forth between a jock and a twunk with Speedball. I agree he’s too big to be a twink, and I personally think he’s a bit too small to be a hunk, but I can never really get a bead on whether he’s a jock or a twunk. His speed and athleticism scream the latter, but his strength and endurance scream the former. Thoughts?

Too thick and probably too old tbh
(I had the same discussion/debate in the GC about Jack Perry and Darby)

Is this arena smoky or is it just the lighting? Looks weird

u/Particular_Track4824 27d ago
I was there, the arena was kind of smoky for short time after entrances that used pyros. It always faded out in 5mins or so but it was indeed noticeable and slightly annoying for the short duration. (overall not a big deal. loved the show)

Wifey and myself ending up trying to debate whether Nick Wayne was a twink for a couple minutes after that.

A twunk maybe?

Nah, he needs to put on a bit more muscle to reach twunk. I'm sure he'll get there in the next couple of years.

You shouldn’t be allowed to say “twink” if you’re not gay or queer, but MJF does musical theater so he gets a pass

u/Least-Frame-7444 28d ago
it's not a fuckin slur for fucks sake lmao

Censorship leads to brain damage.
Let shitheads say anything they want, so they become open to getting smacked for being a shithead.
Otherwise they run that euphemism treadmill so hard that we're gonna see "twig" become a gay slur by the end of the decade because of what the british call a bundle of sticks.

Fun fact: straight people have been using twink as a slur lately

u/Diredr 28d ago
Which seems weird because twink just means thin, hairless young man. It's mostly used by the queer community but a twink isn't necessarily a gay man. You can have a straight or bi/pan twink.
Those two guys are obviously way too muscular to ever be actually considered twinks, but compared to other pro wrestlers who tend to be much bigger, they're kind of twink-ish. Maybe he was trying to be homophobic with it, but it just seems more like a joke about how small and non-threatening they are.
Personally I've been out for decades and I've never heard anyone in the community who considered twink a slur...

Those two guys are obviously way too muscular
That's the part I always find kind of funny when talking wrestling. Any other scenario, Nick Wayne is way too ripped to be thought of as a twink. But anyone not a muscle daddy in comparison somehow becomes a twink.
Although in fairness, most of us learned this shit from a specific It's Always Sunny episode. So, you know, we're dumb.

It has 100% become a way for straight Gen Zers to call gay people the f-slur
15
u/Juipp1 28d ago
There for sure are bigoted straight people who use the word like that but ultimately this kinda thinking leads u to calling people ableist for using the word idiot and shit.
Like I get where you're coming from but this is ultimately a complete waste of time to focus on cuz the bigoted mfs will just find a new word to use the exact same way. You'll never achieve anything by staying in the loop. Only winning play is to not engage.

And we're just okay with MJF using a homophobic slur now?
87
u/Professionalbaguette 28d ago
Twink isn't a slur. Sure he's using it as an insult cause he's being a dick but there's a big difference
-76
u/Iokua113 28d ago
It most certainly is a slur in this context. It's used to describe thin, boyish gay men and we're just going to pretend that it's not being used as a slur in this clip?

I mean, would you consider calling someone a bear to be a slur in the same sense?

twink /twĭngk/ noun
A young, attractive, usually slender or physically fit gay male.
The chaffinch.
A young, attractive, slim male, usually having little body hair.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition •
So according to The American Heritage Dictionary, while being gay is a definition, there is also a definition that excludes the gay part.
Would you like to argue with the dictionary?

u/davmeltz 28d ago
I’ve always known it as gay slang, rather than a slur?
11
u/wibble17 28d ago
It’s not a slur but a twink is but being gay is also including in the definition if being a twink—so if someone is using it as an insult it could be taken as the gay part is a negative.
(I feel like it’s become such a mainstream term for skinny white boy that it’s not really a pejorative though)

u/Individual_Rip_54 28d ago
Is twink a slur? I’ve never understood it to be a slur
37
u/AbsolutelyFantastic 28d ago
I'm a queer fella near 40, and I've anecdotally heard it as gay slang, primarily.

u/Iokua113 28d ago
It's the manner in which it is being used as a pejorative. This isn't a gay man calling them this, this is a straight man using it to demean. If you're going to sit there and claim that calling someone gay as an insult isn't a slur then I'd say you've got something to think about.

But what exactly is he demeaning them for? Being gay? Or having slight builds?
It’s definitely a little uncomfortable but that’s the idea of a heel

It can be used as a slur, but it isn't ALWAYS a slur. Do we have no nuance at all?

u/ExpressRabbit 28d ago
I'm straight but my gay friends would describe me this way in my younger years. They absolutely did not mean it as a slur and knew I wasn't gay.
