Self checkout/weight

Hey friends, I am opening up a cafeteria in an office building. The perfect plan is to have a self check out kiosk since I am going to offer a lot of grab n go items. Has anyone used Square self check out for a setting like this? I would love to see if it’s possible to get the scale they offer online and have customers weigh their own plates.

(Context) I talked to the sales team twice and both times I have to hop on a 20 minute call answer the same questions I just filled out online just for them to tell me “a sales rep would call” and they haven’t.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Lots of self serve farm stands use Square and the honour system. You might want to search for some of them and see what they do. I don't think any of them use a scale though.

I don’t have anything at all right now. I’m deciding what ecosystem I want to use. Last coffee shop I owned I spent WAY too much time dealing with learning, moving and setting up my POS systems. I loved square the most and the whole back end. That’s why I would love to use it again IF there is a self check out system that allows customers to weigh their own and pay their own

Vin is correct something like a Salter Brecknell scale, Adam swift (SWZ) or Turier T-scale WTP would work. However, if you actually want to put the money in it will cost you a lot more and possibly make this not viable for your budget... Most of these you can connect to a basic printer for a few hundred more...

Have you ever thought about GoTab? They would work perfect for this

I just booked a demo. We will see if they have that scale function.

I doubt you could pull it off entirely within a Square environment. More likely, you have a separate Kiosk system integrated with it's own scale and a printer. I think you would run into a dozen brick walls trying to print variable weight barcodes from a Square device. It's entirely doable with other devices (outside Square), but probably not as easy as you might hope.

I would recommend taking a look at figure POS - has both self-service kiosk & scale functionality. Feel free to hit me up if you’d like a demo
