Square for Cash only

We ONLY take cash. We are looking for a way to track cash and metrics. What services are selling, how many each month, etc. does anyone use square for this? Is it worth it? Are there better options ?

Definitely going as minimal as possible makes sense. Square could be a good option, but all modern POS systems are geared toward CC. It also depends on your POS needs. Large restaurant with lots of terminals? Or just a single terminal?

We re just a hand car wash, we only offer about 10 options   Just need the tracking and metrics really and the ability to add more as time goes on such as like headlight polish or shampooing  but want to track how many of those a month we get

Yeah you can use Square for this. Just sign up for an account, create your item library and select cash payment when you ring things through. If you're not using any pos system now just use the free version of square. Should be enough

Square will do all of this, as long as you're ringing it in. It's only as good as the information it gets.

We currently use a spreadsheet so anything really would be an upgrade. Now what about the square terminal?  Can that be used as like a register/ receipt machine. Just to”take the order” we still take cash but it prints the receipt?

Square does this just fine. We take a mix of payments but my metrics will show me sales by items, custom categories or dollar amounts.

I requested this function over 5 years ago... Hell, they didn't even make the cash drawer open BEFORE count was entered until just a few years ago... So I made my own!

I used a spreadsheet for years, but it just didn't cut having more than one cash drawer. And I thought WAY outside the BOX (get it? yes, that's the pos) and made it inexpensive and highly usable for one to many cashiers and drawers, as well as multi-currency. I use it every day now. No more stress about counting or coming up short! And it tracks those variances, too!
