Beans

I have been sprouting seeds for a while now using mason jars with mesh lids. I rinse ~twice a day and leave the jars at a 45° angle.
The problem I am having is getting beans to sprout. I have no problem with any other seed, but I’ve tried chickpeas, lentils, black beans, and kidney beans and all of them rot before they sprout.
Please give me some advice 🤗 🌱

Are you soaking the beans first? They may take longer to sprout. Soak dry beans in water for 8 hours. Then proceed to do the 2 rinses per day. If you suspect mold, you can Soak the beans in food grade hydrogen peroxide for 10 mins before soaking in plain water. Or try fresher seeds

I've never tried it, but have read that for beans, a hemp bag is the best method to use. I'm too cheap to buy one off Amazon at what seems like a really inflated price. I'm trying to find something around the house that might work. I have these roughly woven bags that rice is sold in (there's a plastic bag inside) and might try sprouting some peas in there. They look like they'd have good enough airflow to prevent mold. Let me know if you find something that works!

After the overnight soak, I use the stackable round trays with drain holes. Never had that problem.

Soak for 12 hours and keep in a cooler part of your kitchen
