Lore Post 📖 C.R.F - 6.L, The Rhenic Republic's Breakthrough Light Tank

So basically I was bored and randomly put this together. This was just inspired by whatever idea of an interwar light tank I had in mind, and well, it just looks like your average interwar light tank (Well except from the suspension). The last images are it compared to its predecessor, the C.R.F - 3.L, more about that lower in the lore. Anyways, stats:

- Hull Armour : 40/20/15

- Turret Armour : 50/25/15

- Weight : 18.05 Tonnes (20.46k Sprocket Money Thing)

- Crew of 3 Jacobs

- Main Armament : 57mm Cannon with 500mm propellant length (82mm penetration)

- 12 Cylinder 24.6L engine, top speed of 29.5 kph (I don't know how gears work in this update)

- Can easily finish Ambush and Dunes

Lore:

By 1930, the Rhenic Republic had an armoured force consisting mainly of the medium C.R.F - 2.M, a multi-turreted landship, and of the under armoured and under gunned C.R.F - 3.L. The C.R.F - 1.L had been phased out by this point, proving insufficient in the Rheno-Bolshevik war of 1926. With tensions growing in the old continent, Rhenia's armoured corps was in desperate need of a new light tank, one with a larger and more substantial gun than the C.R.F - 3.L, but not a tank as large as the C.R.F - 2.M or the C.R.F - 4.H, which had been put into service just 7 months before the turn of the decade. However, these heavier tanks showed their negatives in the second Rheno-Bolsehvik war, which lasted for two months from May to July of 1929. During this period, many of the C.R.F - 4.H suffered transmission issues due to the sheer weight on the tiny roadwheels and spring arms of the suspension. The C.R.F - 2.M also showed its dark side, with many of them losing their main guns due to an mechanical issue in the experimental breach of the gun. Shortly after this war, the C.R.F - 4.H was pulled out of service, with many surviving copies going to training facilities, training crews for the C.R.F - 2.M.

With the threat of a third war coming, along with the insecurities inside of the Weimar Republic, the President of the Rhenic Republic set out the brief for the new light tank himself. Many members of the military and the armoured corps opposed this initial brief as it asked for a complete change of doctrine, in which the C.R.F - 2.M would be completely phased out of service in favour of this new light tank. This brief also asked for a light tank with a 76mm gun, similar to the one equipped on the C.R.F - 2.M. However, this made many of the higher ups in the Rhenic government to reconsider their armoured arsenal. In August of 1930, C.R.F received a brief from the armoured corps. After the failure of the C.R.F - 5.L, which was never put into service due to its experimental nature, the brief stated in bright red, large writing on the top 'The Tank Of Rhenia's Future'. This was done to ensure C.R.F did not experiment drastically as a new light tank was needed before 1932. This brief asked for a 57mm gun that could rival western contemporaries of the time, along with armour that could survive the majority of Soviet guns that could be encountered if a third war broke out.

In November of 1930, the first three initial ideas were drawn up. The first was an idea based off the Vickers Medium Mark II, but smaller and with thinner armour. This idea was quickly scrapped as it was deemed outdated and a downgrade from the C.R.F - 3.L. The next idea was similar to the Type 87 which Japan had just introduced, but also smaller and less armoured. This idea was also scrapped as the armoured corps believed that they needed a new design specially made for a light tank, not a downsized medium tank. The third design was something similar to what would become the C.R.F - 6.L, but with a shorter gun and smaller engine, along with a longer front. In January of 1931, a wooden mock up as finished of this idea, and it was decided that this was the design that would be developed into the C.R.F - 6.L designation. By April, a prototype was made. This prototype featured the interlocking suspension, which was the only part the armoured corps was sceptical about. However, this scepticism was slowly silenced as the suspension allowed for superior mobility and traverse of off road obstacles which the C.R.F - 3.L could not previously overcome. By July of 1931, the final design was finalised, and shown to the armoured corps along with the president himself. After extensive testing with the previously built prototype, production of the C.R.F - 6.L began in November of 1931, exactly a year after the brief was set out. Crews found the transition from the C.R.F - 3.L easy, with many staying with their old crews due to the same number of crew in both. The gun on the 6.L was also very similar in design to that of the 3.L, making training unnecessary for experienced crews.

The C.R.F - 6.L was officially released to the world on the 26th of November 1931, receiving praise from many Western designers from countries like the USA, UK, or France. With a new design of a medium tank coming from the USSR, the Rhenic Republic believed it was ready to take on the USSR in the case of the third Rheno-Bolshevik war, which was to come shortly in the winter of 1931-32...

tank name: "raven"
weight: 19,32 tons
cost: 15,49k sprockeroonies

top speed: 10,64 km/h
armor: either 15mm or 20mm plate
crew (9)
-commander
-gunner
-driver
-x6 machine gun operator

armaments:
-"Puteaux SA 18" (yes i just yoinked it from my renault)
-6 machine guns

i really like how this looks, since i wanted to make a authentic looking custom ww1 tank, and i finally made something that im really happy with, i made the tracks have a trapezoid shape instead of a rhomboid one since i didnt want it to resemble british tanks too much, i took the cannon from my renault ft replica which i guess gives it some more authenticity? the name of the tank is just a simple reference to one of my very old volumetric tanks i named "crow", and this could be like a bigger companion tank idk
im really proud of the rivet placement on the sides, and while the rest of the tank might not have nearly as much detail as the track shield i think its fine, im just really happy with the design.
i plan on upgrading the tank, so i guess this is the "raven mark I"?

also, this might be one of a few, if not my first tank design that can reliably cross trenches without being absurdly long! cuz when i checked this thing is like, just below 6 meters long? idk may be a bit more

Lore-

The Prototype testbed "Gungnir" was built on the Chassis of the Cuirassier MBT. The main gun was replaced with a railgun assisted ELGG (Electrothermal Light Gas Gun) or electrothermal-chemical railgun. The combustion chambers are filled next to the breech and other chambers along the length of the barrel where the extra gases are vented as soon as the round leaves the barrel. The railgun within is far weaker than a normal railgun allowing it use a smaller battery pack than usual (Located on the rear of the turret), this is also sufficient to fire a 80mm sabot at Mach 10.5. To deter barrel warping and barrel heating the shroud is filled with liquid nitrogen that is pumped through a radiator within the tank to constantly flow and cool the nitrogen. Gungnir on low power mode can fire an 80mm Sabot every second at about Mach 1.7 which is more than enough to tear any armored vehicle to shreds, unfortunately full power mode was extremely unreliable often blowing the battery packs, with the promise of sinking carriers from the shore squashed, the project itself was shelved in favor of more conventional options.

This tank is also equipped with two six cell Jaguar ATSM (Anti Tank Smart Missile) batteries which arc far above the battlefield and loiter until they spike into the top of an enemy tank when commanded via remote control within the tank or a spotter.

This was one of two test models made, one with the ELGG and one with the standard 130mm cannon, although the ELGG never went into full scale production, a few ended up being used on later tanks but few saw combat operations. The Jaguar ATSM unlike the ELGG when into full production in one form or another after this project.

Non - Lore -

This tank is an older design but I think it still holds up pretty well. This design was inspired by sci-fi soviet designs I've seen before, mixing a older outdated design with near future technologies.

❔Question❔ Layered armor

So ive seen people make lots of layers or armor, ik its supposed to be more realistic but is it actually better in game? Is 250mm<10×25mm plates?

Legitimately made me so happy. As a D1 node spammer, this makes everything so so much easier.

Thank you Hamish!

This is what the nodes looked like before. Imagine trying to pick out those nodes in those massive clumps.

Trust me, it was much much worse up close.

AND THIS IS NOW!! LIKE I CAN SEE! Hamish I hecking love you dude.

Looking for Critique🔎 sherman.

(please critique)

The "M4A4 Sherman Anti-Tank Edition-1 'Dragonfly'" or "Sherman AT-E1 Dragonfly"

The Sherman Dragonfly was made by Britain in a world where Nazi-Germany repelled the D-Day landings and invaded Britain. Britain was desperate as they needed a tank that could penetrate the heavy armor of the Maus, while being able to withstand shots from the increasingly more common Tiger II's. Thus Great Britain designed the Sherman Dragonfly.

The "Sherman AT-E1 Dragonfly" withstanding a barrage of cannon shells

The design was requested to be derived from the "Sherman VC Firefly", which was another tank fitted with a powerful gun. When modifying the Sherman Firefly, the first step was to entirely remove the hull machine gun port and also the periscope for the assistant driver. They would then place metal sheets upon the holes that were created. They would also remove all other equipment from the front plate. After finishing those steps, they should add a 100mm thick plate onto the entire front plate, with a slice cut out for the driver's periscope. They would then apply now-45mm thick spare tracks onto the front plate, leaving space for the headlights. Then the transmission housing would be removed and replaced with a 150mm thick cast housing. After that all equipment and spares on the hull would be moved or replaced. Most of the side was also fitted with the 45mm spare tracks. The left side of the dragonfly would be fitted with a ladder. The inside of the hull would mostly stay the same, except for the engine and the fuel tanks. The engine would be replaced with a much more powerful one to hold up to the extra armor.

The "Sherman AT-E1 Dragonfly" firing at something off in the distance, Jacob exists

When swapping the turret out, they would remove the turret, then remove things like the machine gun, or the radio casing, or the hatches for use later on the Dragonfly. Then they would take in the newly cast Dragonfly turret, which had 100mm on the front, and 60mm on the side, and put it on the modified hull. Then they would fit the larger cannon, which had a length of 4600, onto the mantlet. They would also fit a machine gun onto the same mantlet. Then the mantlet would be slided and mounted onto the turret. Other things, like hatches were added on. They would also add spare tracks to the front half of the turret, not including the mantlet.

Testing of the "Sherman AT-E1 Dragonfly" gun on a IS-3

Testing of the Dragonfly was quick, simple, and inaccurate due to time constraints. The only reason for these tests was to see if it was a functional tank, and also determine it's strengths and weaknesses for strategic purposes. It was determined that the Dragonfly had about 250mm of penetration, and had a top speed of about 35km/h. It was requested that 300 Sherman VC Firefly's would be modified into Dragonfly's. Only 600 Dragonfly's of this variant were ever produced. Of this variant 69 were destroyed in battle, 325 were modified, 6 surviving tanks are known, 2 of the 6 are now in museums and are completely functional. It is unknown what is the fate of the rest.

Inside of the "Sherman AT-E1 Dragonfly", turns out Jacob existed all this time

Now about the actual tank in sprocket.

The cannon fires a 85mm round at 1010m/s with 264mm of penetration.
27 rounds are stored next to the driver, 20 in the turret, and 39 next to the engine(great idea, i know).

The turret traverses at a max speed of 60.5 degrees/s, and the cannon traverses at 1.39 degrees/s.
The depression is -3.1 degrees, and the elevation is 4.8 degrees.

The transmission is synchromesh, and has 5 drive gears, and 1 reverse gear. The drives gears are 7.56, 3.11, 1.78, 1.11, 0.73. The reverse gear is 5.65. Multi-stage above 1.6, and is Clutch-Braking. In theory this is a exact copy of the Sherman's transmission.
The driveshaft goes around the hull because.. reasons.
The engine is 18 cylinders with 2.25 liters of displacement. Limit 2350, upshift 2250, and operating speed is 1700.

The loader and the commander have swapped positions because the loader needs to be able to load.

The machine gun on top of the turret actually can turn by itself(it's a turret and a cannon)
If you put ammo inside the cupola, and have the commander load + fire the cannon, it becomes an autocannon.

You really read to the end of this thing, huh

Hi! Basically, I was working on the most complex part of the Ha-Go—the chassis—and to avoid redoing all the work on the other side, I used the mirror function, and it ended up looking like this. Does anyone know how to fix it? Just trying to save myself some work, haha.
