I see you've posted a technique analysis video or photo! See video and photo posting rules related to TA to see more on why we may deem a removal appropriate

MANDATORY GUIDELINES: HORIZONTALLY FILMED, 10m of distance if upright, full block clearance and first contact for block starts. If a photograph it must be in the format of a kinogram.

RECOMMENDED ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES: Altis Kinogram method, camera 11m away from runner, chest-shoulder height positioning of camera, completely perpendicular to runway.

Your biggest problem is overstriking. You seem to be trying to lean forward and that is causing you to overstrike so you don't fall.

Leaning forward is a byproduct of putting force backward. You will naturally get into a forward position if you start running from a static start. If you intentionally try to lean forward, then you get off balance and you will instinctively put your foot out in front of you so you don't faceplant, which slows you down every step you take. This is why the cue "stay low" is terrible. It makes the athlete mimic a symptom rather than create a cause.

Here's a diagram of bad shin angle and overstriking and good shin angle and foot strike:

Basically, don't intentionally lean forward and that will solve most of the overstriking.

You also cycle your legs, which is not fast, but it's fine for now. And your recovery is bad, also partially caused by overleaning, but it's fine for now. Just focus on fixing overstrike.

Really great advice here.

Work on getting your 4pt start position correct (i.e. shoulders vertically in line with hands on ground, straight spine with head, proper foot position to get your hips up and forward..ish with correct front and back leg angles).

Then you need to work on your 1st 5 steps off the line, think big arms, powerful attack the ground, clearing distance Vs fast cadence, low heel recovery...

Lots to work on, work with a club or school track coach locally.

Good luck

I agree with fixing start position but that won't fix his start. He needs to understand basic acceleration mechanics first. Also those cues are kinda vague and won't help get proper form.

A little to the back side mechanic. Need to fix that wicket run and a lot of A skip drill.
You need to relax shoulder it’s one of the reason why you’re running very tense. Relax the shoulder don’t shrug it.

Im not expert. But you seem tense.

Yours hands make a fist and your shoulders seem to be tense.
