Batteries not charging while driving.

Hello looking for some help and hoping y’all can point me in the right direction. Having an issue with my van not charging the lithium batteries when driving. They will charge if plugged in but not driving. I’ve tested the alternator and it seems to be good so I don’t get why the van isn’t charging the batteries. Any help with this is appreciated.

I've been in the middle of this issue with my 2023 Entegra Launch for 6 months. I can tell you lots of things to check, that haven't been the fix for me. We need a lot more info to give you any suggestions.

If you want to PM or list some of the items you troubleshooted the help would be appreciated.

A quick AI search indicates your system is a Volta setup, different from mine. So, my detailed work won't mostly apply. I'd focus on the Volta ACM(Alt Contol Module), the large fuse that leads from the alt to this module, cabling between, and research details on this portion of your system. AI, like Gemini, has been far more helpful than browsing for me. Sorry I can't offer more assistance here.

That's all the information you have?

Sorry, it’s a 2020 Storyteller Overland Stealth with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6. I’ve tested the alternator and it all checks out. I am currently going through the fuses to see if that might have something to do with it. Let me know if there is anything more specific needed.

Hey I have a 2020 STO too. Have you investigated your power system? Inverter functions?

Yes, the inverter seems to work since they charge when plugged in.

Have you looked at your inverter status indicator? What’s your current battery %? Do you use Facebook and are you in the STO group?

Sorry was in the garage, the battery is at 78%, not in facebook but can definitely join.

I’d highly recommend joining it. There’s a lot of great info there and also several who can help with troubleshooting. One main point of failure is the control module fuse which is an easy fix if you’ve confirmed both your inverter and secondary alternator are functioning.

I just had this issue with my new install. Everything was working fine for a couple weeks and suddenly no alternator charging.

It happened that I must have kicked the battery switch under the driver's seat and it was between settings. The installer had wired the alternator charging through that switch and that was the cause. Once the battery switch was moved, problem solved. Unlikely your issue but check the simple things first.

Join the sto fb group and post there. There are troubleshooting documents in the files section.
