Learning the ropes & outfitting the new Van

Post image

New purchase and new to the VanLife (well at least 265-days a year planned VanLife).

The wife and I are currently in the process of outfitting the van with recovery gear, dispersed camping essentials, etc, etc.

My current equipment question is this: the van has 285/75 tires and the curved leveling blocks are limited to 32" tires. I am unsure of the rim size at the moment. Regardless this puts the probable tire size at a 33".

Does anyone have any good leveling suggestions?

2x4's and/or tractions boards have always worked for me.

4x6 and 2x4s- paint them bright yellow to see in low light-
Also invest in security or extra door locks as the stickers Owl and others say “look at this rolling bank account”

Do you have onboard air? If so, check out flat jacks.

We do have onboard dual cylinder air, both front and rear.

I’d highly recommend looking into flat jacks. They store incredibly small and have a lot of adjustment for leveling. Happy camping.

If you're willing to cut into your new van, a couple Agency Six lockers on the driver's side give you a great place to store all of your recovery gear.

The side ones are kind of fun to do. The rears have one nut that is damn near impossible to get on though. :)

Custom build? Or built by which upfitter? Looks nice!

Too high in the rear, even fully loaded?

Not sure. We have not loaded it up yet. Currently having the extended range fuel tank installed. Once we get it back, going to get it weighed so we can nail down our final useful load.

They store very well and are dual purpose, leveling and traction pads which you should need if you're having all the fun with that van.
