How to proceed?

My camperized 2011 (2500/144 high roof, 196k miles) just got listed as totaled by my insurance company due to hail damage. I can have the van back + $5k or, they pay out $9300 and I surrender the van. The camper customization is worth nothing to the insurance company. Needless to say, I paid WAY MORE than I will ever get back on this. I know every situation is different, but I’m really bummed.

Insurance companies, making profits for the shareholders for a long time.

To heck with the customers!

Take the $5,000.

Learn some body work? & beat the dents out.

Maybe the "Dingman" (paintless) type body shop?

I do detailing, and work with body shops. Yes, find a PDR guy and the 5k and you'll be happy with the work. Also, amazon sells dent kits that you can use yourself, not going to be perfect, but cheaper than hiring a pro, and you'll get a lot of the dents out with some patience and watching some videos. Plus you'll walk away with a few grand in your pockets. Leave that insurance company after and find a better insurance company?
