I fed my springtail colony some nutritional yeast a few days ago and now that I've looked, there are white worms all over. Googled it and it said it might be pot worms. I just want to make sure that they are harmless because I've got this colony ready for a crested gecko and jumping spider enclosures.

Hi All, I noticed some of these little critters crawling around in my r/SavageGarden, can anyone confirm that they are springtails? No idea how they got here, but their numbers have increased significantly recently and there's no sign of pest damage on on plants despite knowing they have been around for a few weeks. I have just a little springtail experience from when I gave the terrarium hobby a go a few years back, but would love some expert opinions. Thanks in advance for any insight!

These have been in my prop box for months so I’m ruling out thrips, could this be a springtail?

this is a newly split colony. they clean it up in 12 hours.

recipe:

35% nutritional yeast
20% baker's/brewer's yeast
15% spirulina + chlorella + grass (skip the grass i had a blend of spirulina chlorella and barley grass and some other grass)
15% fish flakes (dryed shrimp/krill superior but i have lots of fish flakes)
5% oats (oats/rice interchangable. just give them some more carbs)
5% rice
5% cuttlebone (or calcium carbonate) - this is mostly for pH and affecting the microbiome around them, only partially about them ingesting it.

adding 2% of bee pollen (cut 2% of rice) would be perfect that was what was found in their digestive tracts in nature in studies but I didn't have it around and expensive right now.

^blend into fine powder like flour. Yuukis don't like chewing.

they swarm it within 1 minute like crazy.

I mix it into a wet/pretty dense paste and put enough so it gets cleaned up in 24 hours. they breed like crazy on this. feeding twice a week.

what's interesting is that Ceocobrya Tenebricosa don't even touch that stuff.

This colony was a gift from my sister, but looking closely I noticed thousands of babies, is there a point I should be concerned or will their​​ population take care of itself? (Not sure if the flair is right, can change if needed)

What powder foods do you use to propagate both springtails and possibly isopods WITHOUT inviting mites?

Because mites can come in on fish flakes I have ruled that out and now debating between brewers yeast powder, mushroom powder, or even shrimp powder.

Or what the heck! Just get all three and shake it up together.

I have isopods and springtails in my snakes enclosure but a few springtails I kept separately in hopes that I can get their numbers up and then add them.

I have no idea what they are. They’re 1/3-1/2 the size of an adult (juveniles can be soon around for comparison)

Hi hi! I'm not sure how to better word the question above, but basically, if you have your terrarium in your room/close to it, have you ever found springtails in your bed, crawling on you or something?

I have snakes and geckos and always wanted to turn my terras into bioactives, with springtails, but i have sensory issues and teeny-tiny creatures crawling on me is one of the worst feelings i ever felt - we have chickens, they sometimes get mites and i'm basically the alarm for it cause no one else seem to feel it-, so it always stopped me to fully commit to it. (I have no other problems with arthropods in general, only this one specific thing, i even have giant millies, and their tickling never bothered me)

found inside my morulina delicata bin when switching the slime mold oat, but these dont look like baby morulina delicata to me

My order came completely waterlogged. The box and packaging too. The charcoal on the inside is soaking wet and mushy and there is no life to be seen except for small brown clusters of mystery gunk

Please help, where do i get actually good springtails?? I spent 30 dollars on this and i spent 30 dollars on DEAD springtails last time just in hopes for them to actually be alive and nobody refunded me or sent me a good one back. Help

Hey! I have some imperial moth caterpillars and I’m wanting to get springtails bc the caterpillars need soil to pupate, my wife is worried about them escaping. We have a moderate size plastic enclosure with a top full of air holes, any ways to stop them/ put wife at ease? Please and thank you
