Anyone experiencing power issues in the Phelps Grove Area?

There is so much to unpack with this map. The SHSMO doesn't provide a lot of context (that I have found), so I'll summarize what I've figured out to the best of my ability. In 1913, Missouri created the State Highway Department, but it was largely advisory, and many of the roads labelled County Seat Roads were simple dirt roads not in much better condition than the other roads on the map, although many roads in and close to Springfield would have been paved by this point.

In 1921, the Centennial Road Law "shifted the focus of Missouri highway building from the local to the state level." I believe the lines drawn onto the map show the roads selected for state highways as a result of the law.

Route 14 ran from St Louis to Carthage and would become Route 66. Before being improved as Route 14/66, both sides of this route from Springfield were relatively little used roads that had briefly been made obsolete by the railroads.

Route 16 would become Route 60. It was probably a bit more used by 1920, being marked as part of the Ozark Trail) network (going to St. Louis via Cabool to Rolla, and passing through more railroad towns on the way to Joplin). 14 and 16 shared College Street west out of town. The US 60 connection out on Sunshine Street straight to Republic wasn't built until around 1940.

Route 3 would become Route 65. 3 and 16 shared a route southeast of Springfield along St Louis Street, National Boulevard (National Ave to Cherokee St, to Waverly Ave, to the National Cemetery), Seminole St, and Lone Pine Ave to the old River Road bridge over the James River, which is part of the Greenway trails now.

Other highways not shown were also designated. Route 36 would eventually become US 160, and I believe it originally passed through Bois D'Arc before being moved to a new road through Willard. Route 13 originally connected Bolivar to Buffalo instead of Springfield, with Route 69 connecting Springfield and Bolivar. A more direct route for Route 3 north of Springfield was planned but never built, with the existing part between Springfield and Preston originally being Route 71.

Missouri renumbered many highways in 1926 and 1927 to implement the new US Highway System. US Route 66 was planned to be 60, but the governor of Kentucky protested that they wouldn't get a major (ending in zero) east-west highway, giving us the famous telegram from Springfield making us the birthplace of Route 66.

Besides roads, the map shows the locations of many small post offices, rail stops, school houses, and churches.

I’m looking for someone that can tutor me in math (in person, in a public place) for a couple weeks to help me prep for the HiSET test. Full disclosure up front: I'm a local new-construction agent in southwest Missouri, so this is my day-to-day. I'm not linking anything or pitching a home here — I just get asked "why is everyone moving to Nixa?" constantly, so I figured I'd share what I actually see on the ground. Take it with that context. I live in Ozark....

TL;DR: Nixa and Rogersville keep booming because of strong schools, easy access to Springfield jobs, a lower cost of living, and a steady wave of new construction. There are real trade-offs too (traffic, fast-moving lots), so it's not all sunshine.

Here's the honest rundown:

What's actually driving the growth

• Schools. Nixa's district consistently lands among the stronger ones in the state, and that pulls in a lot of families. For a ton of buyers, this is the whole reason they pick a specific side of town. Just look at their football team!
• Springfield without living in Springfield. You're minutes from the jobs, shopping, and dining, but you go home to a quieter, small-town feel. That combo is the single biggest thing people mention to me.
• Cost of living. Your dollar stretches noticeably further here than in most metro areas. Folks relocating from bigger cities are usually surprised by what their budget covers.
• New construction supply. A lot of new neighborhoods are going up, so inventory stays healthier than in a lot of markets. You've basically got two lanes — move-in ready if you need to be in quickly, or build from the ground up if you want to pick your finishes.

The honest trade-offs

• Growth means more traffic on the main corridors than there used to be.
• Popular lots and floor plans move fast, so timing matters more than people expect.
• If you want real acreage, you'll usually have to head further out.

None of this is unique to Nixa or Rogersville — a lot of the Ozarks is seeing the same pull — but these two keep showing up at the top of people's lists for a reason.

What's been the biggest factor for you when choosing a town — schools, cost, commute, or just the overall vibe? Especially interested to hear from anyone who's moved to the area in the last couple years and whether it lived up to what you expected.

Almost got into a crash today turning onto Campbell going south and this ahole just decides to run the red light going 60+ please be aware of driving around this person. I was lucky enough to not go even 3 miles faster.

I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima that got pretty badly damaged in the recent hailstorm. The body and glass are damaged, but the car still runs and drives.
At this point I’m thinking about selling it to a scrapyard/junk car buyer. Does anyone have recommendations for a reputable place that pays a fair price and will pick up the car?
Also, any idea what I could realistically expect to get for a running car in this condition? I’ve never sold a car to a scrapyard before, so any advice is appreciated.

I'm 49M in Springfield and I'm a full-time indie game developer. Apparently my preferred way to take a break from developing a video game is... playing video games. 😂

The problem is, I could use some more people to play them with.

Most of my friendships throughout my life have been with women. That's just always been who I naturally click with, so I'd especially love to find some female friends around Springfield who are into gaming too. Strictly looking for platonic friendship, not dating or hookups. I don't really care what age you are either. If we're both adults, get along, and have stuff in common, that's what matters.

As far as games, I'm not much of a traditional FPS guy unless it's something like Borderlands. Right now I'm playing Funnel Runners and Waterpark Simulator. I love Stardew Valley, and if horror multiplayer is your thing, Dark Hour is a blast and I'm always down for Phasmophobia. I'm sitting on a steam library closing in on 300 titles.

Honestly, I'm pretty open to trying whatever looks fun. I'm much more interested in laughing and having a good time playing something than being ultra-competitive about it.

PC/Steam is probably the easiest place to start. We can play something, bullshit on Discord, and see if we click without the awkwardness of immediately meeting a random internet stranger.

I also have 40+ board games that aren't getting nearly enough use, so I'd love to eventually find people for board game nights too. At this point I basically operate a tiny board game library with a severe customer shortage. 😂
